Edit: A new patch with working icon and some tweaks is been released!
The anticipation was increasing as the hack was in progress, it was hard to keep it a secret too, but the wait is finally over and the hack has finally been released today 12/12/12!
New Super Mario Bros Delux is a hack of Super Mario Bros DS which recreates all the levels from the original Super Mario Bros 1 and Lost Levels, plus a lot of extras and hidden goodies, the creator of this lovely hack, Gridatttack, is been working on it for a long time with the patch that only had 3 levels demo!
Download the patch and use it on a US version of the game please, tested on no&gba, R4 + Wood R4, Acekard, and TTDS, please let us know if you test it on other cards so we can include it!
P.S. I noticed a couple of bugs and I reported them to Gridatttack, waiting for his reply for a fix, the first bug is the game icon (which I made it) is not working, the other is the included boxart (also made by me) in the package is in bad quality, I will fix the link once I get a response, untill then you may enjoy the hack for so far it's working just fine from my testing!
Well we need as many confirmations from different flash cards as possible, so far it's been tested on no$gba, AceKard 2, R4+Wood R4, and TTDS, it works on all three except for the icon only works on TTDS, and no$gba is missing a background in the map screen but everything else is working fine!

Oh okay, cause the icon doesn't work on some flash cards but the guys JUST sent me a reply saying that the icon is been fixed and a new patch will be released soon, and btw it's a mix of DS and DX because it's Super Mario Bros DX on the DS!

Yeah me too! xD It's just as hard as the old ones, I've gotten 2 game overs already. XD Only thing I wish for is the original music for the Mario normal stages. Not the lame new one. xP Oh and Mini mushrooms.... HATE them. xD

I agree, I shouldn't complain when he worked so hard to bring us the epic hack! But boy is it a pain in the rear. The new parts he created are confusing at times, but awesome. xP The star coins, is there enough to open every gate in the world? Or are they just that hard to find? xP I don't know how to figure out if I found them all or not. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention. Anyway, awesome hack! XD I'm gonna post a link on the TA forums about it in the games section if that's okay with you.

The star coins are cleverly hidden, he changed them from one beta to another and I must say I really love them in the final, he done really well better than I ever have expected, the earlier versions were easier to find and while still offered a challenge I like this version more with hidden secrets, and the Super Mario Bros Special levels was the cherry on top :)
I don't think he'd mind, he wants every advertising he could get and I wanted to prove to him that the hack is really good and is worth completing and releasing, it's a lot better than Retro Remix in my book and unlike Retro remix it's actually complete!

To be honest I haven't tried I started up a new file anyway, but I hope you don't lose your old save data!
btw if I may ask which flashcard you got? We could use every flashcard report we can get and so far it's only been tested on R4, TT, and Acekard, plus No$gba of course!

Uh in no$gba though there's a bug where the background in the map would go white, no fix for this as it's a bug in no$gba I'm afraid, but I got good news, I tested it and I can confirm your old save file should work fine ;)

Yeah it did! x) I can confirm that as well! One question, is there star coins for EVERY level? Or just some? And the levels that do have one, do they always have 3 hidden? Cause if they DO, they're very very very well hidden. Also, last question. Do some of the levels have secret path endings that lead to the secret levels I see on the map but can't get to? >.< I bet they do.

About the star coins I believe so yes but I can't confirm it as I haven't beaten them all just yet, but he told me he hid them very well and I believe so because earlier builds had the coins easier to get, by easier I mean they're cleverly hidden but not as cleverly as they are now ;)
As for the secret levels I can confirm that yes I managed to unlock both world 4 and 7 no problems, I'm glad he did that though because in earlier builds there was only two ways to do it, once is by defeating the bosses for worlds 2 and 6 with mini Mario or by finding a very well hidden canon that I could never find, I'm glad he was patient with my nagging and made some of these changes like the hidden goals and the floating fish because I believe making the game too hard will lead the player to leave it which is the case for the hack NSMB3!
