Biscuit Tale - Gameplay question?

by
Hey guys! Been gettin' some time to work on this thangy.

So far I've been just working out the character designs. Biscuit's been done for a while - and I've got a pretty good hold on the antagonist.

But, from the audience perspective - I was wondering... In a game where "You" are suppose to be the protagonist - do you guys dislike "Seeing yourself"? Think something like Halo, You play as Master Chief - and it's a first person shooter, and for the most part, you never really see your body except in story scenes..

Does that bother you guys? I basically have a raccoon character playing the part as the protagonist/you. Some scenes would be first person, other would be close to it - while some shots would be 3rd person shots - or just normal full shots - with all characters.

Heres the thing though, most of the game will be first person, in that you won't see your character. But only in the sex scenes will you actually see your character.

Is that annoying? Movies never do this, but FPS games do it all the time.

I'm gonna have to do this anyways, just to take the most advantage of composition/clarity - but I wanna know your guys' input on it.

I'm mostly okay with the first person, even in commissions, after I verified what my character looks like in other bits, I tend to just like seeing the characters I like doing thing, without him moreso than with. XD The first person perspective adds depth to it, in a way, you get to be whoever, and see hot raunchy stuff going on. :3 Having a random generic character in some bits would kinda ruin it for me, because then it's like a realization that it's that fellow, not myself. :3 Obviously do what works and is best for the project, but my personal taste is indeed to keep it mysterious and first person as much as possible. :3

Yeah - and I totally agree. In cinematography, everything is arranged so perfectly such that you're just a viewer. The camera angles and such will be strategically placed to make it as if you're there - but it still perfectly accepts the illusion that it is not trying to immerse you as the "chosen one"...

Unlike games - Which immersion is the whole point! You're suppose to be the guy. Even small things like, when you move your thumb left, he goes left - adds to that paradigm.

I agree with you, but there's a ton of poses/shots that I've got in mind, that do not work at all in first person. So alas...

Thanks for sharing though :)

Plenty welcome, like I said, you do what works, if some angles and poses and such suit better with a figure there, go for it! I'm sure regardless I'll love the product, can put up with generic dudes sometimes. XD

I don't mind!! I usually like to be a fly on the wall, anyway.  In most games of this nature, "You" is usually some mary-sue protagonist which you have little control over his looks anyway!! A shadow figure who is partially translucent will probably do  =w=

I'd agree, but there are some other scenes where that would be absolutely silly! I'll have to do a stand in character, it's the only thing that actually makes sense.

You do bring up a good point though, people sometimes have little control over their protagonist anyways (much like this game) - so I bet things'll work out...

I think being able to see your character in any other stance too wold be nice.
I mean..it'd be nice to see reactions and such from your character other than in sexual situations, ya know?
It leaves a sort of "Wow, my next decision--i'll have to think about it because if I mess up, IT'LL BE BAD!"

So you'll see yourself more than just an avatar. Y know?

I like first person, with my hands reaching out and manipulating the environment :D

but yeah, as Mushashi said, could be neat to have reaction or different expressions of the protagonist like, in those older fashion square box head shots in fantasy rpg games.
