Gargoyles the tv show

by
I finally come around watching the full 3 seasons (seasons 1 and 3 are 13 episodes long, season 2 is 52 episodes long). I had fond memories of the serie, but it wasn't as good as I thought. Most of the episodes are good (even if sometimes things contradicts themselves, like the stone hand of Puk changing form or just vanishing at times), but all too often the bad guys seems to always work what is now called a Xanatos Gambit : planning your plan A fail to have your plan B win the day. Season 3 is the most dissapointing regarding scenario, kinda rushed to put an end to it : the last episode sees the gargoyles accepted in one heroic act after being hated like no-one (the people are quite flicker regarding that : they were 50/50 when the existence of the Gargoyle were revealed then moved 100% to hate them in just one episode).

Nostalgia is a fickle bitch who wants to bilk you of all your money, enticing you with treasures of childhood that end up being much less like gems and gold, and much more like plastic coins and glass crystals.

And just to fuck with you, every now and then you find that one thing that really was as good as you remember it, and Nostalgia sinks those claws in once more.

I've been meaning to pick up Gargoyles myself, but it hasn't been a high priority because I kinda had the feeling it wasn't as good as my childhood claimed.  Generally I've stuck to the old shows I know I'll love: The Tick, Batman the Animated Series, Tailspin, Darkwing Duck, and Ducktales.  I'm still flip-flopping on picking up Dinosaurs and Rescue Rangers, and if they would ever release it, I'd pay anything for The Pirates of Dark Water.

Batman the Animated Series, Tailspin, Darkwing Duck, and Ducktales : I rewatched all of them and loved them. Now that gargoyles is finished, moving to Rescue Rangers.

Did you have any luck tracking down the Batman animated movies?  I'd got Mask of the Phantasm, but that SubZero one is out of print or something.  It's the last piece I need to find before chasing down Batman Beyond.

Oh, PS...  Don't let Nostalgia con you into picking up the old Ninja Turtles show.  That was a painful revisitation.

Not really any luck with the movies.

A shame.  Phantasm wasn't bad.  And I hear SubZero was pretty good.  Supposedly, they even printed a double-feature DVD with both OAV films on one disc.  Just never could find it.
