While it would be an interesting development indeed, after a bit more research the linked blog is the only reference that I seem to find. And quite honestly his simple reference to the question of source stated as simply SEGA give me great doubt that it is anything more then an intertroll being a dick. If he had an actual source he would have given more detail about the source ro there wuold be verifiable evidence to this being fact to atleast some degree.

Don't get your hopes up to much guys and gals. While I would love it to be true there just isn't at this time any supporting evidence to this guys claim. And honestly after taking a closer look at his entire site, I have seriouse reservations about his so called sources and information.

Just my 2 cents worth, take it for what it be.

Looks like this is the appropriate place to put this observation.

This alone sends up a red flag, Japanese companies still revolve around 'face'/honor, which is why the public shareholder meetings are all held on one day for all public companies, and they are so fast they are called 'clap-clap' meetings (you clap the speaker on stage, then you clap him off right away). This is done to make it harder for dissenting groups to 'disrupt' and 'vandalize' the meeting. It is a great dishonor to have your meeting disrupted.

It would have to be a fake as said 'lack of source' leads to lack of evidence. Also I hardly believe a company such as SEGA would just screw over artist that have been making Sonic Porn and expect fans to allow such artist to be subjected to having to pay credit on their hard work simply because SEGA's characters are depicted in such material.

Whilst their case of using their characters without permission is a viable lawsuit they would only likely win a case where material was actually being sold for profit then subsequently they would be entitled to a significant percentage of the artists work.
Whereas where an artist has been using characters in a hobby form and sharing in a forum then said artist would merely have to pay credit to SEGA for the characters and not the actions or environments they are depicted in.
In both cases however a case could be called forth for copyright infrigenment laws being breached, though it would probably be a poor case as technically the copyright law on Sonic are outdated and most likely don't stipulate to how characters could be drawn or sketched in a world of today and with its technology.

I would say until Aval0nX and his fellow artists are contacted by SEGA themselves, they should just continue doing the projects and hobby drawing the enjoy and love and which bring us their fans such joy.

It's a sad day when something that is fan-made is now being licensed. What the hell are they thinking? Is it now considering to be a profession to create pornographic materials based on copyrighted characters? If so, then I already have a job. Would it be sane to add that to my resume?

i do not think a well known game company would open the doors to the worlds views on porno and the world negative views with it.
they could lose the profit of games and lose reputation and this all depends on supply and demand.

Regardless of the legitimacy behind it, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Sega did decide on doing such a move. The pornography industry is a proven success and Sonic porn is extraordinarily widespread (I've don't think I've seen any single series have so much parody porn drawn or written as Sonic).

While an attempt to license SonicR34 (TM) would cause a backlash from Soccermoms and such, it could prove to be a very profitable industry for them and let's be honest, the Sonic fanbase might never agree on anything, but I doubt Sega would lose much of 'em if they make such a move. Sure some may complain or throw death threats, but there will still be plenty of people willing to buy Sonic games and there will be those who will buy Sonic porn.

This reminds me of a series of dreams I've been having for about a decade where SEGA officially made Sonic the Hedgehog pornographic videogames. I have thought this to be nothing but a pipe dream but with this news, I want to believe that you'll start seeing AO StH games rolling around the stores. This also harkens back to an argument I've had with many friends about how Sonic should be allowed to grow up and become a little bit more like the Archie Series version. BRING IT ON!!!

If this is true, then Im glad that SEGA are finally replying to the demands of the true adult fans who made the Sonic Franchise what is is today. I'd definately support their cause. They should do some OVA hentai too. That would fuckin rock my balls and cock off! Since it said that Sega is trying to "get a piece of the pie" I don't think Aval0nX has anything to worry about because he has already said that he is doing BSC as a hobby and not for profit. So Aval0nX just keep doing what you're doing and ignore the others, because I think they are just pulling your chain to try to get you worried about nothing, besides they would never be able to enforce any kind of license for thier toons because of some international laws that don't apply in some forein countries.

Ok, so this is definitely bull, but to be fair, Japanese culture is very different from American culture. There are a lot of non-sanctioned dojins on store shelves because the perception of intellectual properly and harming the brand isn't as bad as it is here. At least, it wasn't 5-10 years ago. So with that in mind, I could imagine some licensed sonic porn in some way. It just wouldn't bring about the significant revenue that other sources might, like Pachinko/slot machines or other venues. Games too, I suppose.

Before I looked at some of the other "stories" on that site, I allowed myself some suspension of disbelief for a moment. Remembering that truth is stupider than fiction, and considering what other companies like Sanrio have allowed with their licensed characters (Badtz-Maru condoms, Hello Kitty "massagers", etcetera).

Are you serious? Not about the article. Look at the other articles the site has. It's a humor site; none of it's real. Their writing is funny as hell, though, but it's still just made up. On the front page they're running stories about the persona games being pulled because children died trying to summon their own personas, suicide threats made by employees of Rare in response to having to work on Kinect sports, and my favorite, "Madden NFL 14 Requires Players to Watch 2 Hour Documentary on Football Concussions Before Playing."

They're just having fun, poking fun at the video game industry and the behaviors of businesses and the public. You're meant to laugh, I sure as hell did (especially at the Rare Kinect story).

This line makes me feel like this is fake. I've read a lot of interviews from Sega and Sonic Team and I can't recall them ever claiming they've "made mistakes" with the series. They're aware that some of their games were less well-received than others but they still feel that their games were well worth the development. This just sounds like a typical "Sonic games suck" person trying to make this sound as professional and official as possible.

Still, even if this is real, it won't really change much, other than the fact that Sega may put up a copyright specifically for "Sonic porn" in an effort to stop people from doing it themselves (not that such a thing would work) so Sega can make money off it.

Well as long as your game and art are free it wont really affect you. It says that they want a piece of the pie cause people are making money of sonic porn but you are not. People donate money to you but you do not charge to play the game so you won't get in trouble as long as your artwork remains free.

as much as the thought of any major company embracing the adult market is welcome to me, that article is fake... i bear no proof, but the way japanese companies are, especially concerning their public face, and the content of that 'official statement' just don't mix... there are other signs as well but for me that is the clearest indicator of it being false.

the way i see it. you have three options.a-submit to sega control, b-retire from bsc, or c-stop directly asking for donations connected to work on bsc so they cant claim your profiting from their material. i like option c but its your life and your gonna have to do what ya gotta do. if you go down the second route then i offer my sincerest thanks for the work that you have already finished and i wish you luck in your future endeavors. if you go with option a or b then imma still follow you like a fat kid chasing a man with candy.

B- Fuck you, BSC is not something you retire from, It's like telling Stan Lee to "retire" from Marvel comics (guess what, he sold Marvel to Disney, but he's still the father of Marvel) so just fuck you. You sound a little like Killahanna.

C- Not necessary, the shift is I ask for donations if they support my work, since I don't directly do comission work like some artists, donations are just that, people giving me money because they appreciate my work and would like to continue seeing more of it, whether I receive them or not (which has been the case for a while) I'm not gonna leave, I love it here.

actually i just looked at that sites main page and read some of the headlines for other articles like "ZombiU Patch Adds More Ammo, Lives, and Makes Zombies Easier to Kill" or "BioShock Infinite’s Original Cover With Elizabeth’s Breasts Much Worse Says Ken Levine" and "EA Marketing Team Announces New Strategy, Day -1 DLC for Dead Space 3"(Like a company would be stupid to release DLC for a game the day before anyone could play it.....but then again it is EA)

so yeah it's not a really gaming news site, so good news you don't have to worry about sega sueing you over BSC, also bad news, it looks like they won't hire you to make more games like BSC
