Several people have suggested I put some more thought into Estrid's background. So I've decided to give her a profile and update her back story some. I'm still working out the details, and I'm considering having another story written featuring her to help flesh out her character some more. Expect some updates to her profile as develop her story more.
Note: I plan on getting around adding profiles some my other characters as well.
It's interesting to me that a character like Estrid, who became instantly popular, isn't very developed outside of the fact that she likes older males.
This journal, also the mention of it in a previous stream, got me thinking "How would I develop an established character?" The easy answer to that would be to pick the character's brain. What makes them tick. But we can't ask the character directly, just it's creator.
Now RD mentioned that Estrid is likely an orphan.
Let's say she's not just an orphan, but also a refugee. Maybe she was fond of her father, if she knew him at all. Maybe she was raised by an uncle or grandfather, and that father figure had to evacuate Estrid to the world she lives in now, and the means of how she's been able to survive to this point has been in the care of men old enough to be her father. From being cared for by older men, maybe the man/men she was taken in by left out their smut collection and she started to experiment with herself, or found smut on her own and decided to experiment herself, or the man/men caring for her just simply introduced her to the act, leading to the events we've already enjoyed with Seijuro. Maybe Seijuro was the man who took Estrid in.
This is kinda my thought process of taking something and running with it. Hopefully it helps.

Sounds good! I try to have some sort of biography and background for most of my characters. Even fairly minor characters like some of the less important maids in Swiss Mix, I'll have at least a paragraph on where they are from, what languages they speak, what they look like, and what they like and don't like.It makes them much more 'real' when I describe or draw someone that I have a background for.

Jacinth is one that suggested I go with the orphan route actually! She help with the previous story and done the script for the comic / lettering for comic so she familiar with the character and had some good insight.

Conflict makes a good story. You want to be emotionally invested in characters, make people WANT to see more of that character, cause we want the satisfaction of knowing what happens next. Maybe we just feel like if they can overcome their obstacles we can overcome ours.
