My bunny rabbit passed away last night...

I'm not really sure how though.  This morning when I woke up, my bunny Blaze was a stiff as a board.  At first I thought he was resting but when I tapped the cage he didn't move.  My head and my heart have been in shambles all day.  I had a vet look over him but couldn't find anything wrong.  He was eating healthy and pooping healthy.  He was drinking water and not making any weird breathing noises.  The vet said it could of been a cardiac arrest since bunnies are known to be easily stressed by their "fight or flight" mentality.  At first I thought it might of been because of me since I didn't give Blaze as much attention as I would of liked to, but when I explained how I took are of him I was told I did more for him then most bunny owners.

The whole experience has left me pretty shook up but slowly and surely I'm feeling better.  I usually keep tragic stuff like this to myself but I've found opening up about it to be helpful in the healing process.  For those who know me know I hate pity parties or when someone uses a personal tragedy for their own benefit.  I'm only posting this as a tribute to my bunny Blaze to honor his memory.  He was a good bunny and I'm going to miss him dearly.

I'm sorry to hear that Avian, it's always tough loosing something or someone you love. At least it was natural and quick. He didn't suffer, and it sounds like he had a wonderful life with you. I've never been very good at dealing with the loss of a beloved pet, I've lost two dogs over the years that I loved dearly, and I have another that's getting up in years, and I dread the day when his time comes. All I can say is that there's nothing that can ever replace the one you lose, but that's a good thing because it means you'll never be able to forget how good it was to have him.

You're a loving person, and that's a wonderful thing. You wouldn't feel loss so deeply if you didn't have as much love as you do.

Sorry to hear that Avian.  I know how tough it is to lose a pet, especially a pet that you were really close to.  Its really tough, and you will get over it.  Don't be afraid to rely on friends for emotional support during this time.

You have my condolences as well, Avian.

I was actually thiinking recently that it would be nice to put a credits section into the game, to let everyone know who worked on the project, and there you could maybe put a dedication to Blaze, and perhaps a couple pictures of him interspersed with the credits.  I think that would be a very nice gesture.  I can't see even the most heartless person objecting to that.

Take heart that he's bragging to the other pets that have passed on about his owner.

I've had a few pets in the past, from mice, rats, cats, dogs, hamsters... It never really gets too much easier when an animal you know passes. I would give a heart-filled speech on it's better to move with the flow of life and such or some sort... But its 6:15 AM and I'm still awake from two days ago, so I can't really think straight at the moment... So for right now I will just say, "I hope you will feel better. Now and in the future."

There really are tough points in life for people who become attached to animals.  Even if you acknowledge the reality that animals rarely live as long as people, it always hit you hard when the animal is gone.  I've had five pets in my life, four died.  Never got easy, but i always kept a small shrine in memory to them.  You can try the same thing.  It won't make the pain go away, but showing respect makes it easier to deal with the pain.  Maybe it has something to do with incense... i dunno.

sorry for your bunny. maybe it a help for you, that it dies quickly and without pain. when my camelion diet it stops eating and I couln´t do anything about it. for over 3 long weeks I must  watch like my " Doug " gets weaker and weaker.

I nearly was happy when he finaly rest in peace.       For Blaze and Doug, one tear in silence.

Dear Avian , Sorry to read that you lost you friend Blaze.. i had to have my 14 year old cat Oska put down about 4 years ago.. i still miss my Oska..He was a unique friend, and helped me through some sad and bad times..it broke my heart to have to say good bye, to him..and i`m feeling the loss you are feeling ..and yes i`m crying..i was thinking of my cat last nite..and how much my life has been empty, since he has gone to the great , pet heaven , where he is now..Try to not dwell on his passing, and remember all the good that you both shared.. Rest in peace Blaze.. you had a great owner, and will be missed by many.... had many tears here , this afternoon..Take care Avian ........Sneaka...

Did the vet also tell you that bunnies have a tendency to die if they are in captivity, alone? For some reason, scientists have no explanation as to why, if they are with another of their kind, or even with other pets that are of their size to begin with, they live their lives to their fullest. But if bought and taken in alone, it is only matter of time before they die for no real reason. At least that is what I have been told by my Superior vet doctors.

It is a sad thing to loose a loved pet, I can sympathize one million times over, the best thing I would say to do is give yourself some time and go get another, but next time be prepared to go the extra mile and have a mate or friend for him or her to play with. I hope I helped soften the pain... <=2
