I know it's been a few months since this new site has came up. But there are a few things that I see that already wrong with the place. First of all, it's invite only. Now why would an art site be invite only? Sure it's to insure that no trolls and 4chan annons can come in and randomly post random and offensive pictures and flood the site. But then again, whose to say that the members there haven't invited them already. I just think that was a stupid idea. Not to mention that it has a secluded feeling. "Only cool people can be invited to Weasyl."
Secondly, it's not cub(+18) friendly. So simply put, Weasyl is not only "Cool Kids" invite, but it's also FA without the crappy admins. Granted, if everyone that I use to watch at FA go to Weasyl, then I might consider going there just to see their art and music once again. I do miss some of the work they have and I can't access them as a guest because now FA has the feature that can block guests from seeing the artist's work. Even IF it's safe to look at. And why it that? It's not like they can comment in the first place. But that's another rant.
Ferrets. Ferrets? Yes, Ferrets. I will give Weasyl credit because they are not afraid to admit that there will be members watching your submissions. That's what a "Ferret" is. They can go through member's submissions to see if any of them violates the TOS. However, they do not have the ability to see who posted it. So worse case scenario, the admins or mods may remove the image, but you will not be in serious trouble....at least I don't think.
Another thing that I've read is that it's possible to have a paid account. Does this mean that you can purchase original art from those that sell the actual piece? I'm not really sure, but it does seem that way. Just bare in mind that I was reading the information from their links and FAQs there. All in all, even though Weasyl does show promise, it's still not 100% art friendly like Inkbunny here. The things that bums me out is the Invite Only and Ferrets. But, at least they say what the TOS is first and foremost unlike FA that was once fully art free until they switched it up out of nowhere.
So what do you guys think? Is it worth going just to have it? Or is it just an Inkbunny knockoff with FA rules implied?
