Comics

I've been considering for some time to get back into drawing comics. I enjoy drawing creating but I've struggle in the past keeping my momentum up when drawing. It can be challenge just getting through a single issue, the longest running strip I ever did barely made a years worth content. Still I really would like to get some ideas that poking around in my head down on paper for a change.

There's two options if I get back into comics. The first is be commission by someone to work on comic. I'll be honest, be paid to do work is great motivator work, though sometimes it can feel your being creatively handcuffed.

Second is possible collaborate with someone, I always enjoy bouncing ideas off of someone, sometime feel that best work comes out it. Though collaborations have a lot their own problems and difficulties. I know one thing would help if up front what I expect from a collaborator.  Good collaborator for me would be writer who willing let me part of story creation and would mine that occasionally ask write a few things myself, also someone who a little web savoy would huge plus, so I could concentrate on work on art while someone esle could handle the web end.

Anyways sorry for the ramble. I also wanted to let you know I'm decided to post Trya comic up here soon its just going through some final touch ups.

Either way, your stuck with someone else to bounce Ideas with.

Don't get me wrong, that shit works wonders! My best Ideas come from my best friends, but the problem with a collaboration is you have to find someone you mesh with.
Commission take the creating  part out, which is nice, but it's hard to get attached (or deattached) to characters who arnt yours.

Personally, I hunger for moar Sevntar. >:3

Your absolutely right about it being harder to get attache to characters that you did not have a hand in creating.

Azirik is working on Sventar pic as we speak! I'm also considering using him as my next character auction.

Ah, if only I had a few million dollars to blow... I'd be tempted to commission you for even a highly abbreviated version of my Swiss Mix story. But given that I can't afford even a single pic commission most of the time, I can't go that route. And besides, you'd probably get bored drawing my yiffy little maids and their masters, with pretty much no dragons and other fantasy critters.

Collaborating with you as artist and me as a writer, on a mutually agreed on topic and character set, might be a possibility. You've seen how well I can write while using characters and a setting designed by you and others. I'd be a little worried about the time commitment, though. I have a lot of writing projects going already. If you're interested, we could try a simple project together. It would be fun for me.

I could see you teaming up with Nikki23 as well. Nikki already writes wonderful stories for your Jane character.

Um maids? I don't think I could ever get bored with that!

oh I agree that Nikki is awesome and we work on comic projects before, the Tyra comic that mention, I would definitely work with her another project. The time commitment I see being possible issue for both of us as well.

Most likely if started web comic it would not be adult comic, nudity/sex is fine I just don't want it be flat out porn comic. You know something I could least show off at most conventions. Time commitment is very important, I struggle with motivation so I need find a person who very motivated so helps prevent me from slacking off. But I can be talk into a possible small project.

I'll see if I can come up with a setting and plot arc or two that we could experiment with.

I'm going to agree with Doggy here.

Collaborating with folks you already collaborate with for side projects would likely be your best bet, even if they aren't the drawing artistic type.

Perhaps you could take comic writing into a different direction, like how myenia and rukis do their comics and make a comic for print, releasing every plot-centric piece online for free but keeping all but one smut scene in the print version (or withhold any non-plot centric scene from the online version).  It could be a way to work in commissions by allowing cameos in the comic if you need extra money.

good advice, I'll take that into consideration.

Not having any artistic talent of my own, I can't help much for this.
I will say that any comic you do I would enjoy reading RD.
You've got fun stuff and whatever you come up with or decide to do, I imagine it will be good.

Make a sci-fri comic and I'll draw all the spaceships for free.

If you draw mecha, I might be tempted on that offer.

I'm not sure what's covered under the definition of mecha.

mostly giant robots

I ask because people usually call mecha to giant robots drawn in a particular style (anime) and I would not get that right. But just giant robots, yeah I could do that.

I do comics all the time, but I rarely post them because I have a hard time finishing them, I let them get too long and then its just difficult to bring an acceptable close.
