TMI....whatevers..... :)

by
OK, I've seen a couple of furs do this, who've seen others do this, so I don't know where it originated... :P However, since it's Friday (in the East and Central time zones, as I type this- I'm in the Pacific time zone... :P ) and not Tuesday, I can't call this "TMI Tuesday", so... :P

Anyhoo, with 5 more days to go before the 10th (my 47th birthday), I thought: why the hell not? Not like I'll get too many questions, right? So.... Ask me any TMI-type question... :P

(For the uninitiated or neophyte, "TMI"="Too Much Info"-- the kind of stuff that's usually too personal to share... :P )

Oh, and keep it fun, OK? (I hope! :) )

They did it.  It's amazing what scientists can get up to when they get bored. :p

I was going to say that bit of research certainly is an Ig Nobel qualifier, probably wasting more math than necessary, and just radar the damn things like they do with baseballs, and they'd see it would say about 30 km/h (22.3 mph) for a nominal speed (pretty average for most birds), with a max speed of 45 km/h (30 mph)... Yes, I had to use my calculator to convert meters/sec to get those speeds. :)

Of course, it's right up there with the campaign to rid the world of dihydrogen monoxide... ;)

True.  I got the impression he was doing this pretty much for the fun of it using his particular field of study.  I wouldn't be surprised if someone has, somewhere, actually done what you suggest, considering how much they've studied swallows. :p

DHMO is silly. :p It's kind of like a silly look at the dangers of scientific illiteracy.

Swallows: Most birders would've already assessed the speed long ago, anyway. :)

DHMO: Tell me about it! :P Most of them are religious, not realising that the events at the beginning of Genesis are confirmed by the Big Bang Theory, if not the actual pace mentioned in the verses... :P And yes, the average person is pretty clueless, because they're told simply to follow, and not to actually think for themselves. Me, being the scientifically-curious person I have always been, I get the gigglefits when someone's that clueless in not figuring out what "dihydrogen monoxide" really is. ;)

Swallows: Probably so, but did any of them publish it formally where anyone could easily link to it? :p

DHMO: While your interpretation is hardly close to wrong, I generally figure many people don't get it because they're just not that interested in chemistry.  DHMO follows in the proud tradition of cowboys' tall tales and college pranks, playing upon people's ignorance and lack of knowledge for some fun.  If they're smart, they might be able to learn something.  If they're grumpy, they might just get irritated that they did learn something. :p

As one who has encountered such a device, what does a tittery-whoppet feel like upon a Polyphemus?

Have any of your dream squirrels ever wanted to summon storks with you?

Would you rather I hadn't asked these questions? :p (After all, it's not like you promised to answer any questions put to you. ;p )

Ugh, did I just manage to downgrade myself in everyone's eyes? x(

Warm and pleasant. :) Lotsa fun to explore, too. :)

Yes, particularly Helia... o.O :)

As with all my previous "Ask Me Anything" attempts, I wouldn't post them if I had no intention of answering. :) So, no. :)

No. :)

Hunh.  I mostly asked because I figure it's highly unlikely I'd ever find out myself.  Plus, I have asked a couple of women (via Furcadia since I wouldn't ask in real life) what it felt like from their end.

Well, there is still this one left dangling.

" No. :)

That's good to know, actually.  Just chalk the question up to paranoia, I guess.

There are times I ever wonder if I'll ever explore that area again, myself... :P

Well, there was my 2 months of Hell that's kept me from responding... Still been hectic, though not quite as bad... I should get through my backlog, including reading your Gilfane stories...

Right now, I'm preparing for both a doctor's visit (regular followup) this afternoon, and heading to Redding right after, so I can do my annual Sundial Bridge walking tomorrow for my birthday. (I'll have my iPod with me, and there's WiFi access at the hotel, so... :P )

I appreciate it, actually. :)

Any of them succeed? :o

Just what does squirrel fur feel like up to and in the heat of the moment? :o

Would Helia be cussing me out by now? :o
