So I saw Dredd the other day and it kinda surprised me. I was expecting something like Total Recall this year where it's an good movie but cannot compare to the original, but to me Dredd was just as good as Judge Dredd. I mean, Stallone's power is missed, but Karl Urban actually does good in his own regard keeping Dredd structured and almost robotic but angry as well. Olivia Thirlby does an great job as Anderson as well, very likeable and goes convincingly from sacred to bad ass. Lena Headey however ended up being an awesome draw as well as Mama, definitely an highlight for me.
My only complaints are that the movie seems a bit constrained as it mainly only takes place in one 200 story building except for the opening. The gratuitous use of slow motion also gets an little old after an while since it happens with each use of the drug. But with each look back upon the movie, i just seem to like it more and more. I think I'll end up seeing it again as well. :3
On other news, I saw an new trailer for The Hobbit in theaters and it rather disappointed me, the first trailer was serious and dramatic, every time that song played it gave me shivers, but the newest one took all of that away and just made it rather light hearted. I really wish it kept that serious tone, but I am still very much looking forward to it.
Also, as of note, tomorrow will officially be my 100th movie I have seen this year. I can't believe I have seen so many this year do far, makes me wonder what my final total will be this year.
