I think fallout 2 was more fun, personally. There are more options and there's a lot more in general to do and see.

Better to try the original first, the story is pretty well done, but you can't go wrong with any of the fallout series. unless you dont like the later FPS/RPG thing that Bethesda did. but i enjoy both ^_^

plus the first one has the MASTER, he's a bad-ass villain x3

i enjoy the new ones but not sure i'm comfy running it on this lappy top but i'm sure the first two will not worry me so which is why i'm asking

they wont make you worry, but make sure you know it's a totally different game x3

a bit boring in retrospect in the battle system area but the story and humor is top notch

well you think the new ones will run on my setup? that's the only thing i'm worried about i don't want this lappytop to explode in my lap.

i was meaning the old ones xD

the new ones are a bit needy when it comes to laptops, it's huge open world like skyrim so draw distance becomes an issue. yours i remember was a bit worse than mine and i can't run those games. we're both lucky we can run borderlands xD

just dont go in expecting anything like fallout 3 or NV. it's a TOTALLY different game, and a bit dated. but if you like old school top down turn based RPG's then you'd like it. i for one dont care for the battle system but i play it for the engaging story, since i love the story of the fallout universe

Eh, I bought both of them years ago, and they never really grabbed me. I don't really know why, since the plot summaries I've read prove that the story is actually really good, and the gameplay isn't that different, but eh.

I guess the first? I personally prefer the second for obvious reasons of improvement, but you might want to play the first one just because the second one makes a lot of references to it and it's better to get a grasp of the old before going to the newer.

FFFF-I love fallout ;~;

Start at the beginning.  I think the first Fallout helps to establish the setting better than the second, and chronologically one comes first.  There isn't any real difference in gameplay between them, so you could play two first and it wouldn't be weird to go back to one.  But storywise, I'd say you should play one first.

You should go for the first game. The second one is bigger and better, however, the first is far less intimidating if you aren't use to the game play.

I prefer the first Fallout to the second one. The second game has more to do, but it tries a little too hard to be 'adult' and 'edgy'. Also, Fallout 2 has much more FedExing than the first one. 'go here and bring me that foozle'.

Going back from Fallout 3 or New Vegas is going to be difficult.

ive only ever played fallout one, its a clasic old style crpg [which is to say HARD AS FUCK] its very easy to die if you dont watch what your doing, and i don't think theres a dificulty control.

Fallout 1 has both a Game Difficulty and a Combat Difficulty option, and you can change them at any time in the Preferences panel.

Fallout is actually pretty easy, for a pre-2010 RPG. If you think that's tough, stay away from The Bard's Tale or Might and Magic. :}

you obviously didnt have the missfortune of wandering into a deathclaw at random at level 6 then.

You don't meet Deathclaws at random unless your Luck stat is really, really, REALLY low, until you hit a much higher level. Offhand I don't know what level I usually got to the Boneyard out and took out the nest there. I'd have to play it again to check. Called shots to the legs and 'running away' usually works  if you don't have the firepower to actually take one out, though.

Word of warning. The fallout games are HARD. I sank a few hours into fallout 2. Died to...everything. Giant plant? 30% chance of hit and it'll do 10% health damage. He hits be back I lose a 1/3 of my health. Bandits? Pretty consistently outnumbered 3-4 to 1, dish out same damage as you do. Just...wow. This game is TRYING to kill you, with everything its got. But that's how ALL the old RPG's are.
