As it turns out, I didn't go and see my mom. I waited and waited for my sister to get off work and come and get me, but she never did. I even fell asleep. The phone rang and I woke up. It was my mom.
Apparently, my sister, after having gotten off of work, didn't feel like driving out to where I live to pick me up. She, however, worked close to where the hospital was, and visited my mom herself. I had trouble communicating to my mom why this made me mad. I get that my sister is tired after working, and I live a good drive away from where she works, but, damn it, this is sort of a special occasion. Our mom is in the hospital recuperating from surgery, and she can't come get me? Sheesh. Man, I need a damn driver's license. Then I won't have to rely on her so much. Fortunately, that is in the process of being studied for.
Anyway, my mom seemed much more lucid and less groggy when we spoke. And there was good news to douse my feelings of resentment at my sister. Originally, the doctors projected my mom would come home Sunday or Monday at the latest. However, she's been doing so well post-op that they're considering letting her come home Saturday, i.e. tomorrow. So, looking forward to that very much.
