Total Recall

Just got back from seeing the remake of Total Recall.  Overall, I thought it was a very, very good film.  I went in with an open mind, not expecting it to be anything like the original, (possibly my favourite Arnie film ever) and was pleasantly surprised.

Slight spoiler alert; although not really as it's the very first thing you find out in the opening credits; this time, it's not set on Mars.  Basically the entire world was wiped out in chemical warfare and the only two countries left surviving in the entire world at the end of the 21st century are Great Britain and Australia (Now know as the United Federation of Britain and The Colonies) which made quite a refreshing change to the general future disaster move where it seems the US is the only surviving country. :P

Anyways, the two cities look visually amazing and I think a tonne of effort went into them, along with the apartments and such characters were in, even though The future London looks like Coruscant and The city in The Colonies just like the city in Blade Runner. XD

There are lots of throw-away gags from the original movie to keep viewers of the original movie smirking, and basically runs it's story almost exactly to the original.  The one and only thing they really, really fucked up with was a scene in the abandoned London Underground where it was BLATANTLY a New York Subway Station and New York trains. XD

So go, enjoy it, expect massively over-the-top action scenes and hae fun. :P

So like I say...  Go with an open mind.  I really enjoyed it, much more than I thought I would. ^^

Ughs. I thought the film was horrible myself. Lol. ^.^ Was like a hour and half long chase scene and bad acting. ^.^

Awww..  It's not all that bad.  I've seen worse this year.  Like I say, I thought the cities where beautifully styled.

Well some of the set design I guess was pretty well done. The subway tunnel through the Earth was neat. :D

If not the most unplausible thing ever.  XD  But, yeah...  It was kinda cool.

I thought it was pretty good myself. Not as good as the original but good in its own regard. I cannot wait to see dredd though. Looks fantastic so far. :3

Yeah, you can't beat the original. :3  And Dredd looks good too!  Been meaning to go and see it for a week now.  :P

Dredd isn't out yet, not that I have seen at least. The only thing about these releases is that the originals starred such powerhouses like Stallone and Schwarzenegger that these modern actors just cannot compare. They seem weak and watered down by comparison.

Yeah, it's got an earlier release date in the UK.  Three weeks earlier I think, but I agree.  The old actors were real rugged men.  Not little pretty boys.  :3

Definitely, the 'I am the law' scene in the trailer is drastically less effective than stallone's but everything else seems good so far. I plan on seeing it soon myself though. :3
