Quantity over quality?

So I have been uploading alot of sketches this past 2 weeks, thoughts? Sketches doesnt burn me out which means im more productive whereas full colour pictures takes alot of effort and burns me out after a while resulting in an Artblock.

The question here is do you guys care about the lower standard or do you not care?

I love sketches and overall do prefer quantity over quality, personally. At least when you draw a lot of sketches you have a much more varied range of artwork to choose from if you ever feel like making a more polished picture.

I guess that makes sense, I rarely ever touch my sketches I already uploaded tho. guess I should change that habbit.

Well, it's a sketch, so the quality may be a little lower, but it's fine really. ^^ I cant see much difference, and it's good practice. Your art is cute either way!

you cant see much difference D:

O.o No, I just didnt want to make it sound bad. Your pictures are always awesome, but you can tell a sketch from one you spend hours working on. My point is dont draw until you have an art block.

The pictures are beautiful and the quality is extremely good
If you can draw better that way. Then it should remain that way!

I think if you do quantity, quality can build on top of that, the more you do, the more you get good at doing more better faster
(that last part almost made sense)

I guess it does.

I always prefer finished works over sketches, but my advice is "do what you want to do".

How about continue hammering sketches out and do full-colour works of the best ones? Uploading sketches is a good way to get feedback on what works and what doesn't.

Thats what people are suggesting. Anyway I am gonna hammer out sketches for a while longer.

I totally agree with you 100% on feeling burnt out with full color stuff and more productive on the sketches.  Sometimes I have to resort to sketching to get myself out of an artblock, and I think it also allows you to draw without overthinking, which is where I think a lot of the burnt out feelings come from.  Your sketches are really appealing to look at, so I think as far as quality goes it's really nice, I almost wouldn't even consider them sketches.  I've been throwing around the idea of doing more sketches myself, I just tend to get carried away with things when I start, and just end up doing finished pics.
As far as standards go, I don't think it really matters, as long as it captures certain elements.  As nice as it is to see some crazy colorful realistic type pic, I think the sketchy look really gives it an appeal of it's own, and I think when someone knows they'll be looking at a sketch, they'll also have some sort of standards with it.  I'm totally diggin it!  ^_^

I still dont know how you managed that 20+ comic in such a short time :x and yeah sketches are sketches and shouldnt be taken for full colour.

I sometimes get big spikes of motivation, and when that happens, things seem to come together with no road blocks.  Some days things just seem really easy to draw, where as others I find myself struggling with the simplest of things XD  That comic was like a huge sugar rush when I started it, and when i finished it I crashed hard and feel into the worst art block, so I don't think I'll be doing that again for a long time XD
But Anyways, with your layout and style of sketches, it works perfect.  I sketches are super sloppy, so seeing yours being as clean as they are makes me envious XDXD ^_^

Clean? my sketches are really messy. I have to clean them up a little to make them sellable.

I don't hate the sketches, but let's just say I appreciate the higher quality. That's just me though!

If you prefer to do sketches most of the time, then do mostly sketches, and reserve the best or your favorites for doing full color on. Also, feel free to let me know if you would like one of your sketches traced and colored; I'd be willing to do this on one of your pics cause I'm a big fan of your artwork.

Is the middle sketch a character you've done before or would I be free to choose colors?

As far as I know Vladimir Lenin said, "Quantity has a quality of it's own." The sketches I prefer. The really good ones, colored and finer detailed. The really horrible ones, I have not idea since they are usually not posted. Keep some balance and I am happy.

I dont care how you draw, the important is how you feel when you draw. If you feel good drawing scketches, then do it, if you like add color, then do it, don´t worry about the people, I am sure the people will follow you whatever you desire. :)
