Screw Drawing...

Is how I feel atm. As of a couple months ago, I have found it very difficult to even start a drawing. Every time I pick up a pencil or my tablet pen, I just sit there staring at my monitor/sketchpad, not being able to think of anything to draw. Even when I do think of something, I never know where to start. I try to teach myself and learn new techniques, but it never seems to work. I know it takes time and lots of practice to get better, but I always get discouraged almost immediately if something doesn't turn out right. Another problem I have is comparing myself to the artists I idolize. They've been drawing way longer than me, so I shouldn't expect to be anywhere near as good as them. Even with this knowledge, I still do it. I really need to solve these problems before I give up on drawing period... :(

might be time for a break period, just try and draw when it feels natural, or you feel in the mood. If you try and force yourself you might make it worse

Really. Just take a break and come back when you're ready
We (anyone creative) all get to this point some time..even the really good ones.

It's a lot like making music, but all you can do is experiment. And you should idolize no one but yourself, while taking inspiration from others. And don't forget, everybody, (including the more experienced artists) start out bad, that's just how it is, practice will never make you perfect, it'll just make you more experienced :)
