Safe and sound. I had fun with

on my trip.

The highlights included:

* Drinking beer on the train down

* Meeting

and roomies for an evening

* Getting jumped on (almost literally) by the world's friendliest attack dog

Thank you for hosting me, guys. :D The trip back was pretty smooth overall. I'm definitely looking forward to being able to pick something of mine up and not find Ruckus hair all over it, too, heh.

Maybe it's just me, but I -love- trains, and the chance to have a few beers and watch the scenery or chat with random people I probably won't meet again!

The scenery wasn't that great, mostly because most of the trip was through inhabited, semi-urban areas, so there was a fence or tree line along the rail corridor often. Several nice views near the border where it was less-inhabited, though. Had wifi most of the way, too. Amtrak's Cascades route (Seattle to Vancouver, basically, although it also continues south) is nice. Ticket price isn't too bad, either.

The prices on board for food in the dining car, of course, were jacked up.

Yeah, for me I've almost always been on the Pacific Surfliner, so a lot of coastal time.

And of course the dining car is expensive, but that's something you plan for before you buy a ticket. Take the ticket price and double it for the beers. Surfliner even had Arrogant Bastard ale!

Surfliner leaves from L.A. (I believe) and goes up to somewhere in Canada. It passes through the eastern parts of Oregon and Washington, though, I think.

The Surfliner only runs through California, but Amtrak has connections that run all the way up the coast.

Oh, sorry, I take the Surfliner to the Coast Starlight. I forgot about switching trains. Maybe I have too many cheap beers when I ride on the train, then, hehe.

Yep Ruckus will do that to you. Hope you didn't get peed on as well cause that happens more often than you think. xD

Nope, but he got to go out into the back yard often enough. I did get plenty of slobber from his toys when he brought them to me to throw when we played fetch at the park, though. And lots of puppy head showing up next to my arm while eating. And so on.

He did spend much of his time playing games in his room when he was home, yeah. I'd never met him or talked to him, although I'd heard of him. Maybe next time I'll go bug him some, lol.
