Not sure what else to do...

Last night, this went down.

tl;dr - totally fucked, and facing jail time.

This is a very good friend of mine, and I want to help, but I don't know what to do. I don't have the financial stability to fix his problem.

The only thing I could think to do is to let more people know about what's going on. Usually, these sorts of journals fall on deaf ears; we've all seen them, and we go, "aww," and some people post little sad faces in the comments.

Even so, I'm gonna try to send a little his way, and if people reading could even give nickles and dimes toward the tickets, it would be really helpful and appreciated.

On top of that, if you want a little something back, he's offering to do some writing.

As a writer myself, I can vouch for his abilities, and I'm quite sure he'd be willing to write about most anything.

Let's be honest: This situation is obscene. To issue fines and demand them to be paid in LESS THAN 15 DAYS by someone who is not even allowed to drive a car, lest they should have a WARRANT issued for their arrest... is tyranny.
This is a situation that says, "You have no real options. You will be going to jail soon."
'Lets throw them in jail and take all their money. That'll protect the public from...them not giving us money!'

The message is clear: have enough money to bribe the state into allowing you to eke out your pitiful existence. Too poor for that? Fuck you, gutter trash, enjoy prison.

Seems you guys are actually helping a lot <3

The short of it is: his roommate - the person with a job - is now in jail for being unable to pay traffic fines relating to insurance, and now my friend faces jail time as well if he's unable to pay his own traffic fines by the end of the month, fines which were issued this week. Without a job and without being able to drive, it's a messy issue, to say the least.
