that was one thing i didnt like between dragonball and dbz...dbz lost some of the 'goofyness' that dragon ball had...alot more zaney, random, off the wall shit happans in dragonball then in dbz.

Yeah and I noticed all the fights seemed to follow a set pattern or timeline of sorts in DBZ. The story is nice when there actually IS a story. Dragonball seems to have much more plot.

indeed it did, i think with dbz they tried to 'grow up' the show along with its main character and while yes it does have a more 'mature' feel to it, the price was some of the magic that came with the first series playful tone...they tried to recapture some of this in gt, but....well...there was potential there however it failed miserably to live up to this potential....though it was nice to see silly old emperor pilaf one more time there at the start.
