Keyword Suggestions

Finally!

I have certain keywords (cub) blocked, because I don't want to see them.  HOWEVER, I still see cub porn alllllllllll over the place, because the keyword isn't used.  Like, almost ever.

Keyword Suggestions will save IB.  Maybe!

They need to add an adult cub/ mature cub rating so that keywords wont be an issue with cub porn and it has to be submitted under that part. Then users can simle block cub porn.

That would be great too!

It would have the same problem as keywords as it's up to the submission owner to mark their stuff whatever they're going to mark it. So even if they added that option, just like with keywords currently, some people would just simply not use it. So I don't believe adding stuff is going to help. As people get more and more used to keywording and such it will only get better. If anything is obviously something and is not keyworded such, suggest the keyword yourself. If it's denied, open a support ticket.

Yes I understand that possibility but it just seems more simplistic to me than it should be, I mean keywords are getting better and whatnot but still most users who submit cub porn just keyword it cub  for it.  With the rating, it wouldnt matter if they used cub_porn as a keyword or not since it would be in the adult/mature cub rating.

Also I dont see why it wouldnt hurt at all; since if you look at it, why bother having ratings for submissions when we could use keywords. So it can be sorted/ filtered with ease.  The rating system could be/ if it isnt already be heavily enforced, so if the same user submits.... lets say a sexual themed pic into only the general rating, that there should a limit before that person gets suspended for not following the rules (common sense, but who has that anymore >.>) of posting material on here.

I guess it just comes down to the admins and mods if they feel like doing anything for this, for its just my opinion.  *shrugs*

I get what you're saying, but if they do it for cub, they'll have to do it for all 'fringe' kinks. They'll have to add one for guro, vore, rape, etc. The simplicity is lost and at that point people certainly would feel less compelled to keyword properly since it's already built in to the rating system. That wouldn't be beneficial considering the site runs on keywords.

I think the system is already in place, now we just need a little more enforcement, but I'm fairly sure we won't see too much of that because they've always maintained that the submission owner essentially has final say of what's what, only "extreme cases" would warrant action. I can see kind of stance being beneficial for keeping content creators interested (less hassles) but at the cost of some viewers who can't even tolerate certain genres of art.

From what I can tell the staff is more interested in cultivating a community of accepting individuals than they are retaining everyone. I'm torn because I like the idea of making an accepting group like that, but think the cost of doing so is going to be very high overall for the site. It's my prediction that those who can't tolerate cub will move on to Weasyl or whatever when it's launched.

It has no teeth. It's optional.

Well, the keyword suggestions are optional.  But the mandatory minimum keyword rule is not optional, and that will solve this problem too. (Assuming it's enforced.)

Well, after seeing first hand the way the new rule is going to be enforced, it looks like it may not be enforced at all. :\

You were right.

Oh I've been around for a bit, Biscuits. Much as I like a bunch of things about Inkbunny, that remains one of its flaws.

That's THE flaw that keeps me from wanting to browse the site. : P

http://wiki.inkbunny.net/wiki/Keyword_Policy#Minimum_R...

There is a minimum requirement that will be enforced. So anything obviously cub will be marked as such. But anything in a gray area or borderline will probably be up to the submission owner.

I have discovered that there will be no enforcement of the keyword policy, even when the submission is clearly not in the grey area.  (Such as when the age is actually listed, and the submission has 'cub' thumbnail but no keyword.)  I was told by staff that even under those very clear-cut circumstances, the owner of the image doesn't have to comply with adding a cub keyword.

Can you link to it?

I can't link you to the discussion, as it was in a trouble ticket.

What about the submission in question?

the suggested keywords for an individuals submissions can be turned on or off. if on, the poster can choose whether or not to induce the suggested keywords.

the IB crew is adding the ability to "accept all suggested keywords" on posts, but are still leaving the suggested keywords to the poster to approve or reject. reason for the 'suggested' keywords not being automatically is because there are too many trolls out there that could suggest "shitting, dick, nipples" onto your beautiful astral painting of spacetime interlinking quantum and physical mechanics. :3

so... the more you know :3

Yeah, I've run into that problem as well.  Once you suggest a keyword for something though, and you have that keyword blocked, that image will be blocked as well.  The problem is you just have to see it to be able to suggest a keyword.  I really wish that more artists would actually tag their work properly, or the posting guidelines be enforced a little more stringently.
