Dear Young Furries/People of Twitter...

It is not the internet's responsibility to babysit kids online

Have seen these Twitter types leaking out to art sites, boorus and imageboards, talking about how we shouldn't post {Insert fetish here} or draw {insert media character here}; or NSFW in general in some cases.

With one of the regurgitated arguments being "Kids could find it!" D:.

Okay?  And that's my problem how?

I'm not a parent to those kids.  Other artists aren't parents of those kids.  Some of you who are barking this crap are barely old enough to parent kids yourself.

It's the parents job to monitor what they see.  Not yours, not mine, not the other hundreds of thousands of artists out there.

Quit demanding we take responsibility for something that isn't our problem.

Also I know this is more than likely an excuse to try and guilt people to quit drawing things you don't like.  And to that...tough.  Loads of artists draw things I don't like and vise versa.  We all have different tastes in things we like to draw.  The world doesn't revolve around you guys  The sooner you realize that; the sooner people will start taking you seriously.

I could go, yay, internet freedom yes, puritans fuck off from my free internet, cause I hate puritans and believe we should have sexual freedom online AND offline in public spaces. But, that would be boring, so let me try something else. I'll try to get to the core of the actual problem.

See, all this really is, is rules of conduct expected from irl public space now getting applied to the online public space. From the point of view of the average person why should public internet places openly display porn when it is forbidden in irl public spaces? Or should we also allow it in irl public spaces? Cause I think this problem comes from having to reconcile why these two easily available public spaces should have different rules applied to them.

This problem appeared when internet became a mainstream public place for the general society. Before, it was a niche wild west for a small group of weirdos, who enjoyed the freedom, but at some point internet went super public, and these two groups clashed. Alas, the mainstream society generally makes the rules.

The thing is, the world does indeed revolve around the mainstream population, which makes rules for what happens to public spaces, and online is yet another public space, unless it's a website locked up behind a login and password, and expects your id to let you access adult content or something like that. Irl people expect your id or another way to prove that you are of age, like actually seeing that you look 30, before they can legally let you access certain types of content in irl public and private spaces.

Since we are not the mainstream public, but the minority, how do we convince the mainstream public that internet should be treated differently, with different standards, and allowing easy access to content which is deliberately hard to access irl, despite also being a public space.

This reminds me of a story here in Texas a while back, some kid broke off from his mother, ran into someone else's yard, and found a tiny gap in the blinds where he saw some guy coming out of his shower naked. The guy was not aware of the situation until he was suddenly arrested. He was later acquitted, since it was easy to prove the kid could not have seen what he saw without trespassing, but another example of society trying to punish someone for minding his own business as if he were responsible for everyone else's kids and their whereabouts every time he undresses.

Personally, I think porn is much less detrimental to children than some of the shit they can readily access on regular ass television. And where is the "think of the children" argument when they're subjected to endless and ruthless advertising for games that revolve around kidnapping wild animals and forcing them to fight for profit? =P

100% agree - kids are their parents problem and nobody else's

if those parents are so incompetent that they want total strangers to do their own fucking job then maybe their wishes should be granted and their children should be taken away from them

you're the fucking parents - do your fucking job or stop your fucking whining

so whatever offends those pathetic incompetent cuntshit parents, take note of it and keep drawing more and more and more of it just out of spite

as for puritans of all kinds, just fucking kill yourselves already

i don't get why parents let their kids get on the internet in the first place.
Why do they need phones with full internet access?
