Bad Movie Friday theme change

I had promised that I was going to do a NC-17/X BMF this coming Friday. Well, that's going to change.

One of the films was going to be Showgirls, which I had seen.

The other I had only heard things and just now took a quick look through. That film was Caligula and those who had seen this know what I had just seen.

The theme was called 'Beyond Rated R' not 'Beyond Rated X'!

That film was straight up porn and there is no way I could risk showing 2.5 hours of that on LiveStream.
I do plan to sit down and watch it but it will be offline cause I honestly do not think I could get away with this one. So sorry for those who knew and had already got the KY and Kleenex ready. XD

So this Friday will be the 'Deathstalker' series. =D

I've seen Caligula numerous times. One of my fave movies ever.

From what I seen, it ranks up there with Deep Throat in the fact it actually played in public theaters.  XD

I had always planned to watch it but I never fathomed how far they actually went in it. Glad I took a peek before streaming it. Might post a review of the film after watching.

The early days of the MPAA ratings-- which were intended to replace the older Hayes Code, and actually allow mainstream studios and theatres to show nudity and violence (the Hayes Code was intended to prevent the studios from doing that, which they were before 1935)- had not only Deep Throat, but also Midnight Cowboy, Behind the Green Door, The Devil & Mrs. Jones, The Story of O, Barbarella and a few others, then it was relegated to porn joints, until movies like Caligula, Eating Raul and Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down brought the X rating back to mainstream screens in the mid-'80s. The NC-17 rating (ie: Bo Derek's 10) were intended to bring a softer, more acceptable porn to mainstream just prior to allowing the X rating on mainstream screens.

I grew up with Bob Guccione's Penthouse, and since it was his production, he was promoting the hell out of it, as the most shocking display of sex and violence to have ever graced the mainstream silver screen to that time. It did end up one of the biggest-selling home videotapes of all time.

No worries. I found a bluray rip on usenet. Only 13 gigabytes.

That said, the thing is kinda banned in Australia and friggin' Netflix has it !?!?!?

Oh yeah, forgot you was DownUnder. Its strange the laws there now considering the films that Australia used to make in the 70s and early 80s.

It is indeed the highest budgeted flat out porn movie ever made.
Add to that it has actual actors and a genuine story and you have THE
cult film of all time. Some day I'll see it but I'm in no hurry even though
I very much like Malcom McDowell and Peter O Toole. :D

never heared of any of the movies, still surprised you say one is straight up porn and played in theaters. I know of another movie like that and am ashamed to even of seen it with my friends.

The HangOver is nothing but gay porn and pedophilia -.- how it didn't get an nc-17 rating or x rating is beyond me.

dmfalk pretty much explained how movies got away with it in that time. And Hangover is not porn. It has shock value for sure but its not porn. Scary Movie had more content than it did. Showgirls came out in the 90s and, to the best of my knowledge, was the last NC-17 film to be released in a wide release to where most everyone could have seen it. And to be honest, I seen worse in some of today's R films, which is not surprising considering some of the Rated X films are no worse.

Caligula on the other hand contains content that would normally be seen in Hustler magazines or 60% of the internet. It was literally the first time I was surprised at what a film got away with, Even with the X rating.

And X does not mean porn. It is actually a tamer NC-17. X translate to 'No one under the age of 16 allowed to view'. 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' would of been an X rated film if it was made in the 60s-70s.

Are we talking about the same hangover? You shurly must of had an edited version. Because the version I saw had male nudity at ever turn and one of the 3 geting sexual favors. In the begining one man shoves his junk in another mans face, your reation would be HA HA junk in face. If not for his balls hanging out of his shorts its just sick. There constontly groping the baby in the film and even that one man makes a masturbation refrence. Part way in the end they fuck a tiger and in the way end they all fuck a black chick. Its a total cock fest then. How is this movie not porn, its sex and nudity through out its worse that a Cinamax late night movie.

I really can't belive a rated R movie like that got away with being in a movie theater. I remember seeing me myself and Irene in the theater and it wasn't nearly as bad as the hangover. Yeah it had alot of sexual refrences and puns but I don't remember a group orgy and the cast banging each other and every turn.

ive been meaning to watch caligula but i never get around to it. , lol the hangovers not all that bad. i mean its kinda twisted at parts but its meant for a twisted sense of humor. i mean jackass 2 got an r rating right and so did bruno. the criteria is looser than it used to be a few years ago

I saw Caligula back when I was 18 I think...shortly there after I became obsessed with the fact that we had the same birthdate  and began to think of myself as the reincarnation of him.  So...aside from that tidbit of crazy, I wonder what the problem would really be in showing porn on a stream. I mean...after all, isn't that exactly what 99% of the artists who use streams do?  Granted it usually isn't REAL porn, but is it that much different from seeing a giant spoo shooting penor for 2 hours?

  Thoughts?    o.o

I played a segment of the first orgy and most of the stream agreed it was prolly too much. One problem might be that it is the Uncut version so might be a lot more content wise than what some had seen from it.
