(Let's try this again! Third time trying to type out this journal. More art incoming too)
Hey all! Been a while. As fun as the last journal entry was I figure it is time for the yearly update, especially considering that 2021 was 2021. Seriously, as great as the wedding, honeymoon and visits from a few awesome furs was I think 2021 was on par with 2020 for me. We were still trying to get our bearings and I was also adjusting to being a parent and when Kroger IT decided to randomly change schedules throughout the year and continue to strip away more freedoms and common sense I just couldn't take it. Even though I got a promotion, that schedule change that almost screwed up my wedding was the final straw. Along with the wedding planning, Vel's work and the kiddo and my car dying and financials and all around bad luck I am surprised we managed to make it through the year. There were moments where I just went into a non-responsive stare while trying to recall why any of us exist! Looking through old text messages it doesn't even seem like it all happened as it is all hard to recall.
But one thing, the highlight of the year, of course was the wedding! I had my worries during the rehearsal as everything was getting chaotic as the night went on. But to ease that anxiety Faofeng and Karshar took both of us to the local arcade, located in the middle of a dead mall for some games which on the way there I realized is where Veltrix and I first met! We took a picture in the seats where that moment happened then went inside for some games until midnight. There wasn't too much sleep as I had to wake up early and visit my aunt in hospice care and get prepped and make sure we had everything (almost forgot the rings)! Outside of that, I don't think the wedding could have gone any smoother. The DJ, bartender and even my cousin's daughter who doesn't even like weddings said she would like one like ours. As it was two days before Halloween we had that fall them and made it more traditional Pagan/old European style. We entered the reception to Andrew WK and Veltrix and I danced to Howl's Moving Castle theme and of course it was then I cried. We set off for home for hopefully more than 2 hours of sleep before our 14 hour drive straight through to Boston, MA!
Which we made! I drove for about 12 of those hours and that feeling of vertigo I got once I was able to do some walking was certainly strange! But we made it to Boston and slept for a few but had to get up in order to catch the ferry to Salem on Halloween! If a fur con had costumes instead of fursuits then that is what Salem was then. A BEAUTIFUL town with everyone in the creepy spirit! We hit up all the spiritual sites, legit encountered some spirits and visions, and had some clam chowder! Needless to say we slept through most of Monday and never once left our room. Tuesday was our walk around Boston day and we also hit up Salem again, this time without all the tourist so we could appreciate the scenery and immerse ourselves in the history more. We plan to go back soon!
It was making us work holidays and changing schedules once again that I finally yeeted myself out of my job shortly after Christmas as I had gotten myself a new job! One with Monday-Friday, work from home, way better pay, better breaks and lunches and a smaller team where you can work your own pace and even a happy hour where the whole company just hops on camera with drinks and chat about whatever! If it wasn't for me seemingly getting violently sick every month this year would have been perfect as we finally have the kiddo medicated on Adderall and Vel finally has a new job too that is much easier on her body, has slightly better pay and I'm hoping will be work from home later in the career! While 2022 seems to be zooming by I'd take an easy year of nothing happening over the chaos (even thought the world is in chaos... but we are focusing on family as hard as we can!~)
But the year is not over! For Anthrocon approaches and Veltrix and I will be there! We are arriving Wednesday to spend some time in the city before the con starts. After three bloody years we can finally hit up our favourite con! I hope to see many of my old friends there. After the con though, some summer plans then aiming for a house... if this housing market ever decides to shape up. House is better for a baby!
