Fred Ward, Rest In Peace

As a huge Tremors fan, I'm saddened to hear of his passing, but grateful for all the hours of entertainment he gave us across the span of his career. He will be missed.

Ah, no, Fred Ward is Earl Bassett, who only shows up in the first two films. He's the guy Valentine McKee pals around with. Burt Gummer is played by Michael Gross, who last I heard is still kicking. And yeah, I wasn't really fond of ol' Travis. The whole thing of giving a hero a kid to carry on didn't work for Indiana Jones, either. I can say, without spoiling anything, that Travis is mentioned but doesn't appear in the latest film, so what that might mean for that particular character I dunno.

I only own the first four films. I considered buying the complete set last Christmas, but couldn't really justify buying the first four over again just to own the next three. I'll have to get them individually.

i was shocked to hear the news, it was so sudden IMDB did not even had him listed yet as passing away.......thought my cousin was shitting me about it, she thought he was Burt......i was like, no that is Earl Basset........

real shame, he really will be missed, i am sure Michael Gross and Kevin Bacon are mourning him as well

I hadn't heard about it 'til I saw your post. It is a shock, and a shame, too, though I think he had a pretty good career, at least. And gosh, I can imagine the uproar with Michael Gross passes, may that be a long way away yet! He really defined the series and in a way it feels like I grew up watching him. I was eleven when the first film came out, and I've been a huge fan ever since.

Hah, that's okay, I didn't realize it 'til I was older, either. Even though that's her song over the end credits!

I was too busy fangirling over Bibi Besch, who plays the doctor's wife. She always did get in trouble with men named Jim!

I never managed to see the television series, but the movies are a lot of fun. If you have any interest in that kind horror comedy film, you should definitely see the first one, at least.

Loved him in "Remo", "Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult" and "Tremors"!

Rest in peace, Fred Ward.

I always forget about poor old Remo Williams, and I shouldn't because I had a friend in college who was a huge fan of the original novels. I should see about tracking down a copy of the film, for old times' sake!

It's a great movie! I can only recommend it! It's highly underrated, if you ask me! He was also in "Tremors II", if my memory works well, but he refused to do the other ones, hehe.
