I'm sorry to hear that. I can't believe that bosses actually have the right to cancel vacation for their employees (especially if the boss knew in plenty of time about the vacation). Unless it's EuroFurrence(?), I'm not sure what EF stands for. I don't know anything about it but I have heard of it.

Yes EF stands for Eurofurence and yes I put my vacation time in early in November. He didn't also had the right to cancel it. It's a long story and I admit I trusted him a bit to much because he gave me his word. It's rather complicated. But from this point forward my boss can't expect that I do him any favors anymore

At my workplace if my boss MANAGES to convince me to come in and do some work, and the notice is done in less then a week, they have to pay me $20 extra on a daily basis for 5 days straight, since they've ruined my plans for the week. This goes for all the workers here. My boss was having the flu/cold (Also covid+ with 3 vaccines turns out...) and called me in and he stayed home. I had to switch my night shift with another office worker, and we both got the 5 days/nights extra for ending our planned schedule.

sound like what one of my old jobs did to a coworker, was retail, he had a week planned out with a plane ticket and hotel payed for months in advance. the two weeks before they went "well we need you to work that week so your time off wasn't approved". he laughed and told them it was their problem since he was going anyway and if they wanted to fire him to go for it. They never did fire him. lol.

Fuck your boss. Thats so not right for him to do. I'd say just find a new job and just go to EF anyway.

My bosses know that when I "request" off, its actually me warning them that I wont be coming in to work for those days listed. I was nice enough to let them know well in advance so they could find coverage. Its not fault they were too lazy to figure out the schedule.

If you're in a comfortable enough position I'd say tell him that you didn't request the time off, you advised him you won't be available and it is on him to ensure there's coverage, not you.

That's provided you can financially handle potential retaliatory firings.

Sorry to read about your vacation and con issues. I had planned to go to Further Confusion in January. Everything was paid for, then the Covid-Omicron scare hit, and the event was canceled.

Then a week later I caught the damn bug; vaccine’s.., mask…, still got it.

With reports now that the original virus was going around in September of 2019… I evidently had the first version too back then.
Hopefully you can get a better vacation & con soon.

Yeah that is also really crabby. Hope you got through covid without a hitch
