Two days ago I placed an ad to sell my car. I seemed to have found an interested buyer, and although there were some strange things I didn't worry after having exchanged several messages by email. We agreed payment would be by Paypal and would be made today.
I received a message from Paypal saying that I had received the money, but there was more than expected. After enquiring, he told me he was having problems paying the pickup company and if I could do it on his behalf. I, naively, did so. Later, when I went to check my Paypal, I realised there was no money. The message I received was fake, using the company's logo among other things. Only after a lot of scrutiny did I realise my mistake. Late, of course. So, today I lost 1000 bucks.
I share my mistake here so people don't fall into the same trap. I've already notified the police and the bank, and I hope for a solution soon. In the meantime, to compensate for the loss, I'm going to reduce my prices by 10% for the month of February.
Take care, I wish you the best!
