Today I wanted to create a PayPal business account. This would be a less complicated payment method than Fanbox, and also in addition Fanbox so far has said 3 times that the payout of a pledge I got there failed to payout, and atm I speculate that might be because Fanbox perhaps only processes payouts to PayPal business accounts, but not private ones
However, 2 minutes after I had created my business account, PayPal banned my account before I could even confirm my email address. They said that "after careful consideration" x3 they deemed the account suspicious and in violation of PayPal's terms of service
PayPal didn't say what exactly the problem was, but maybe I shouldn't have used the same phone number, name, birth date, and/or address that I use for my personal PayPal account? But I only have 1 phone number and I didn't see a reason why I should create a pseudonym and a fake address when the information can only be seen by PayPal (and PayPal already has the information from my personal account anyhow). I only watched 2-3 videos about PayPal business accounts and quickly skimmed through some websites and PayPal's ToS before creating it, but iirc nowhere saw anything about stuff like that. I mean, I just wanted to be honest, because I thought PayPal might find it suspicious if I state different names/addresses despite logging into both the personal and the business account from the same device. From what I watched and read it sounded very much like creating a business account would be super quick and easy, and that having a business account alongside a personal account shouldn't be a problem
Fortunately, PayPal didn't delete my personal account (phew!). I think I'll look a bit more into how Fanbox and PayPal work the next few days, and maybe also contact Fanbox asking them for support (though there's of course the risk that they'll then google my account name, find my Inkbunny and then just delete my account). If this turns out unsuccessful then I'll see if there're any alternatives to Fanbox (Ko-Fi isn't anonymous enough if connected to a personal PayPal account). If I won't find any alternatives then I'll maybe look into how cryptocurrency works :3
