Objectivity and subjectivity

Our biases are inherent, but can be challenged, checked, and controlled. Delusions, on the other hand, don't respond to rationality. Persistent beliefs that don't go away even when you know they don't comport with the evidence.

I keep running into the idea that my thoughts and feelings should be like those of other people. I struggle with trying to realize why people like things, especially when the structure, or the science, or whatever is poor. And the answer was given by a friend. It depends on what you want. It's subjective. If you want a romantic comedy then hard scifi can be unwatchable.

I know i have trouble wanting things. I don't know what to ask for. I don't know what to focus on. And I am beginning to suspect dopamine burnout or something that needs professional help [bc I'm a bit of a hypochondriac i think]

But yeah, what it seems to boil down to this time is that I'm trying to be objective about a very subjective field. Whatever objections i raise, likely no one else cares. They like what they like.

It’s certainly an interesting conundrum you have here.  That is to say that on the one hand, hoof, or what have you, one wants to believe that one is capable of being entirely objective, but the reality of it is that humans are always subjective in some way.  Perhaps you should look at what the others in in subjective topic believe, seek what drives them, what their history is.  Once you understand that it may be possible to better understand their viewpoints on the subject at hand (hoof, paw, etc…). Therefore you will be able to better argue your views by using the details of their viewpoints and make an appeal to their logic and emotions.  If that doesn’t work, simply agree to disagree.  Btw, sorry if this sounds pompous, I just wanted to make some suggestions based upon my own knowledge from exactly one sociology class.  You do you and keep creating what you like and all that.

One more sociology class than I've had. I'm curious what it was like

Well it was a while ago, but from what I recall, a lot of that particular class was bookworm done mostly online, but the speech class I took went deeper into details of such things and had a lot of projects and group work involved, so if you enjoy group work and crafting speeches to appeal to the emotions and logic of others through the use of examples, then I would definitely recommend taking a class on it if you are in college.  It really opens one’s mind up a bit!
