Artists should NOT do this!

Fellow artists I know getting commissions is some times hard and you at times do things you are not comfortable doing, things that where on your No list sound tempting at times to get a quick buck specially to get your name out there and start taking more commissions, I don't mind the cub stuff I don't mind the incest as long as its not violent and rapey stuff, I got my limits very well defined but there are things I will never do as an artist and every artist has but there is a thing No other artist should do EVER! if they do respect its own work as an artist and that is the following.

Use some one else characters with out permission!
I ones got a commissioner wanting me to do a commission with characters that where not mine nor his he told me to do it and no one else but him would see it, (so he also didn't wanted me to upload it) that was suspicions to start with!, that is Not ok in my book as an artist that some one is making money with my property is a nono! a big nono and I can tell in furry community that character theft is a big deal, so please if some one comes around and ask you to do a commission with a character that is not his or yours, do go with the chars original owner and ask if such a person has permission to use his or to commission them chars. some may say "its a surprise! don't tell them" even then I am sorry but NO always ask it might be just a person trying to get that char on some naughty situation most of the times with his own character. but the original artist said no. or just want to not get caught using some one else's character.

So keep this in mind if you ever get a commission like that, its NOT KOOL! I would be so darn mad and pissed if some one took my chars and put them on situations I did not agree on and end up in some pesky guy's private commission collection! and I am sure that if you are an artist you would feel the same if some one else did that to your chars.

There is a clear difference between fan art (even the naughty one when they are main stream characters that are the property of a company or a multi-billion international corp, not exactly one person in his basement with pen and paper.) and taking advantage of some one's work to take advantage of some one else character.

PS: this one guy also wanted me to do the art pretty much for free, told me to put him on the list (with out paying) and he would pay me ones it was done, sorry but NO. even if that was a $60 do to the amount of characters in it I had to turn it down eventually I just didn't felt comfortable and seen all in his gallery where commissions and a very few for that matter in a laps of 2 years some thing just felt off, I'm pretty sure many artist had provably decline its offers. oh but he was the insulted one for me not accepting it with out paying me.

be good pups out there ok?
keep it up and keep it kool

well if they tell you its a surprise commission gift but ask you to NOT post it and he is not gonna post it either does not really feel like a surprise, so that was the part that kinda felt suspicious.

Yeah hard pass on that one. If you're "paying me" for art works you're not allowed to upload, I'm not allowed to upload AND I haven't seen one red cent. It's time to hit up my old friend the block button XD or ignore their future messages/request... because that's sus af

As someone with characters, and not able to draw them (I'm a writer, and never had the skill to draw), but as much as I love having my characters be drawn, I'm quite touchy about how they're handled. I don't mind certain individuals asking to have my characters drawn, and certain artists doing so, but I do have my limits on how I want them done in art. You're one of those artists I would trust, as we both have similar tastes and limits. :)

Yeah that right there was my point, i love gift art and dont mind if people draw my character(s) any which way even as a birthday present or something. The only time id ever have a problem with that is if i were involved in fetish art im not into. Thats the only time where i draw the line, and people who know me should know what i am and aint into especially if youre gonna give me free/gift art... Besides that most if not all characters i own are fair game if you wanna send gift art for one you may like.

However i do agree that for people not as leanient as me to ask first. I know friends who deserve gift art who dont mind when i use their characters in art but the frustrating part about getting gift art. Is having to go thru avenues like this. Because then its no longer gift art if you have to tell the person its coming. That like ruins the surprise. At the same time if youre gonna get gift art at least know what the person youre getting the art for is actually into other wise pairing their character with a kink they are not into is of course and obviously not ok

A way around this, satisfying what we prefer for our characters, is that the requested artist could ask the owner/creator of the character if such-and-such is OK, without having to reveal whomever is requesting the commission, this keeping some, if not all, the surprise intact! (As with, in my case, my birthday on the 10th...)

I have had several followers want my Oc to be placed in situations.. I am in no way not saying you can draw my oc but I will control what is asked and what is drawn.  I also respect the creater of my oc and as a rule I run ideas by him/her first before I agree to anything, because the oc creater may not draw characters in siuations you want the oc to be in and that may cause the creater issues with being asked for art they do not do. etc,,

Very agreeable what you are saying.. Just don't go as far as to deny surprise gift commissions to friends of a commissioner etc. :(
Admittedly tolerating that opens a loophole for dumb people out there q_q

Man if I found out someone got a pic of one of my OCs in a situation I didn’t jive with I’d definitely be a bit frustrated. Not at the artist, but at the commissioner. I don’t even have many things I’d say no to so like… people should just ask. I get sometimes wanting private stuff for your own entertainment, I really do, but at least try to not step on the toes of the creator.

Note: I have content on my FA as this profile is mostly for lurking and following folk lmao. Rough stuff on my FA for most people but still ahaha 😅
