To artists who offer commissions: Customer Service Help

I know, really odd to think about, but it's true.  Commissioners (like me) are you customers, and I think that most artists don't really understand that.  Hence why they fail at getting any kind of attention for their work, not to diminish the quality you all put into it; just saying if your looking for people to put money to your work and you don't want to work with them, they are going to notice.

So, I also hate people, so I might not be the best person to talk about this.  But I know someone who is:

(click on the 'Give em a Pickle-English' to watch the video, and don't worry about the step pop up just close out of that)

and when your done watching the whole thing, I would like to ask:

What is your Pickle?

So whats your question? I'm not a very active artist but i am currently working on several commissions and may be able to give some insight to your concerns. That is not to say that i will have all of the answers or that any of them will yield satisfying results. I may also be able to shed some light on what you should expect from different sorts of people you commission. Not all artist are the same and shouldn't be held to the same standards.

lol, no companies are the same either, but they have one thing in common, it's who they serve

so what is it you do that makes you different from every other artist out there?  what's the thing people remember you most?

I'll be the first to admit that I'm in no way shape or form special, nor do I bring much to the table. I acknowledge the fact that as far as art goes I'm fairly low on the totem pole but can more than make up for it with my daring. There is a lot I'm not terribly experienced in but the prices of my services reflect on that. As

said they mainly focus on things that they enjoy and mainly draw for themselves, I am no exception to this. I think you'll find most artist especially nowadays primarily draw for themselves and offer to draw for others but dont stress to heavily on appeasing the masses. If my IRL was smoother and more stable maybe I would sit down and think about how I could gain a larger following. The reality is that drawing porn is just a little more than a hobby currently. It is a small comfort to help others visions come to life from the few opportunities I have had to do so.
I hope this answers your question to some degree.

For me it's all about making art for myself rather than pleasing someone else, of course I care about gaining a big follow but I'd rather have a small one who enjoys my specific weird tastes than a big one with more generic stuff.
I think that I'd probably never would had done the weird extreme stuff that I love if I'd be concerned about not scaring away some  people.

My pickle is weird high-quality 3D sonic the hedgehog stuff!
