I need a new laptop...

Sorry for staying silent, guys.  My laptop stopped working last month.  And I need a new one.

I can't write word documents without a computer.  But I am noting down my story ideas.  And I'm scripting key moments when I can.

In the meantime, I will continue to commission drawings of my stories.

It was stuck on the start up screen.  I took it to a repair shop and they told me they could either transfer all the data to my external hard drive or fix the laptop with all data wiped.

What is your conf ?

Sincerly, this is bullshit. You can ALWAYS save data.

Try using CMD as admin and type: sfc /scannow. It repairs all System files.

My what?

I saved the data onto my external hard drive.  But I didn't want to pay extra to fix the laptop.

I have no idea what you're talking about.  But maybe I'll take back after payday...

Uuuh... I mean, if you really want to save your computer and if hardware is not the problem... which is probably the case... I then I suggest you to fix it yourself.

I think you'll get scammed, since I imagine easily what the repair guy is gonna do.

Ask Microsoft itself ! Almost everything to save data exist on the Web.

To reset your PC

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)

Tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click Recovery.

Under Remove everything and reinstall Windows, tap or click Get started.

Follow the instructions on the screen.

Unfortunately, it's stuck on the startup screen when you first turn on the laptop.  It won't do anything else.

i recommand DELL  or ASUS laptop.
Acer never be trusted to last long.
suggest high graphic you can afford.  im still UHD later plan for a high Grap next year.
4gb ram is now a troublesome processing speed. also suggest higher ram

here are my suggestion if you are in a budget. of course its still within a thousand  threshold.
