You've got to be one of the busiest artists I know of, glad you're still hammering away at it :)

Hopefully you reported the debit card and stuff already. I'm not sure about the SS card and all, I've never lost mine.

I know some art supplies can be expensive, though. And that phone.... I hope you didn't lose anything that can't be replaced.

Stolen things at a con I KNOW that feeling, even if it was my sis's original digital camera. Worst part was, this happened at an art both when i was talking to a few artists, and someone spotted the camera and "said" they'd take it to Lost & Found... why would anyone who noticed my camera allow a STRANGER to just take it when they use the words "Lost & Found" is BEYOND ME (especially when they were INSISTING on taking it)!!!

You best get to reporting all that before anything even worse happens. That really sucks and I hate it when I think about just how many people would do that. To think that it wasn't necessarily bad luck that it happened when it did, but that so many people would have stolen it as well, given the chance. I really hope you can get it all sorted out. Sucks.

That's awful! :O I certainly hope the scumsucking malificent son of a b***h responsible for stealing your property gets tracked down, gets the crap beaten out of him, arrested and undergoes punishment much worse which he is so overdue for ¬_¬

There is almost nothing in this world that can make me angry, but thieves are the one exception.
I once nearly got mugged, but managed to get away without loss or serious injury, but even so, I was surprised at how angry I felt afterwords.
I can't even imagine what this is like.

All were originals I brought to show friends of mine (one was working as inker for Spiderman, the other as a work-for-hire to a provincial humour magazine kind of like Mad magazine).

I even had a final work for a music band's album cover.
Luckily they were too broke to afford actually paying me anyways.

Besides that a full sketch book of studies, prints of my first attempts at digital work. (Foamy the squirrel taking Germaine's panties off kind of like the old Coppertone ad)

Tch. Un fucking believable. People will steal anything these days. I can relate to your loss mate. Got robbed a couple weeks ago. My roommate had the screen door open to the patio because it was such a warm day. Some walked in, stole two laptops and a laptop bag that were sitting in the room, and left. He was still IN THE HOUSE when this happened.

Just hope you walk away with a lesson from this. You can get robbed any time anywhere. No matter how safe, crowd or public it is, someone will be still be at least 'willing' to try it. No deterrent will ever really stop a thief; because they go through stealing it on the belief that they won't get caught or don't care if they will get caught. :(

Take some time for yourself and find a good outlet for some of that steam. I wouldn't blame you for taking a (possibly) much-need break from our demands for a while, or from any delays.

I'm glad you didn't get mugged though (Taking a steel-toe boot to the temple doesn't feel very good. Now THAT was a headache... It's been years and I still can't remember what I did that scared them enough to make tracks, all I know is that I started thinking in a much more coldly analytical way.) and that you have friends to help you through this.

if you haven't already you need to report your cards stolen and your SS card too. as soon as you can you might also want to find a way to monitor your credit make sure no one is using your identity, it sucks you lost your art and supplies as well as personal belongings but if they have your ID and SS card they could do more damage in the long run.

Yeah.. at the moment, I only have Gami's phone temporarily and I have work tomrrow so I can make calls from there. The hardest thing is replacing all the stuff... It's left me a bit downtrodden.

yeah its mostly going to be the time need to make the calls and get around to the offices to get the paperwork taken care of. specially the social security card. when i lost mine it was a pain to get a new one, i hope you can get this all sorted out with little stress. good luck hun.

This is why I keep everything "glued" to my person. A foot away and I panic. It literally has to be touching me at all times.
Can it be possible someone though it was their bag and accidentally picked it up? Just curious. If so, should try and find a way to broadcast on the AC site or somewhere to probably get it back.

I highly doubt it, given how closely clustered together me and all of Gami's friends were. It was also pretty dark and I had it tucked right next to my leg against the couch... I wish that were true... but most likely, I was targeted as a dumb tourist or as an artist.

Well, I guess someone was looking to be trouble or just has a mind set that anything they see unguarded is worth taking.

Also, some people are just wired to do things as they please, its really sad.

That sucks. =/ I'd suggest to get one of those hidden pockets that's on the inside of your pants so people can't even pick-pocket you for those really important documents/cards. Thieves are really good at what they do, I've even seen video of a guy who can steal stuff off your person while he's talking to you. o.o; Can't be too careful. Hope you can recover/replace what you lost though. =x

Wow. Note to self: If I ever go to AC with a bag, HANDCUFF IT TO MY WRIST. That's some brazen thievery. Well, at least there wasn't much actual money in it right? Just cards?

I mean it's balls, but I suppose there's some comfort in the fact that the thief got almost nothing useful for his/her trouble. Art supplies and clop probably aren't worth much on the black market.

i've only been two cons in my life planning on going to one this year too at dragon* con and i never left anything leave my hand my bag was always around my wrist except when i was sitting during a panel just so i know what i had was still with me

as well i lost my wallet right near thanksgiving last year and i had to get my drivers license, ss card, credit card, debit card and a few other things of no importance and it was a pain to get all of that replaced
