Two very different films yet both anticipated with great interest. Let's start from the easy one: Luca.
To say that impressed me on a personal level it's to say little: I've spent different years of my childhood's vacation summers in a similar small sea location (Bonassola).
The movie dwell in one of the themes i loves most: meeting and discovering someone else of completely different nature as the titular protagonist of the movie.
Personally i loved the amount of regional Italian culture that in some points i suspect are difficult to be understood or noticed by not-Italians (one striking moment it's when the protagonist are in Giulia's home and she's actually preparing pesto sauce, or tha there isn't just ONE kind of pasta, haha xd). Graphically beutiful, especially the swimming scenes, the anthro design of the "Sea Monsters" it's quite cool especially in certain scenes (like the "big revelation" scene of Alberto or earlier when they try to hide from Giulia and her dad).
I've read already a good amount of people almost begging to see a LGBT theme in it, and honestly i doesn't agree. They stated pretty much clearly the characters are kids, and this is exactly the kind of pre-teenagers years when you can allow to have the "BBF" that stick to your memory even if your paths will divide and you grew up distant. This is one big theme of the movie, and fans should appreciate this element for this kids's innocence.
Said that, Alberto's attachment to Luca IS somewhat a bit suspicious for an adult's eye in some point, but i find great that everything seems open up for the future. I am wondering if this movie could benefit for a Sequel, but would open-up many challanges.

Rock Dog 2: well... let's start with the fact that not many furries knew it was on production, but while not aiming to high it made a decent follow-up.
One problem it's that in my opinion the animation quality decreased a bit compared to the first movie, but at least the story unfold with a simple yet fitting plot of Bodi facing with the issue on what actually doing with his skill in music and his personal power.
I appreciated that they dropped the element of "wolf eating sheep" that was a bit nonsense in an anthro society and added more individualitic motivations for the villain.
I can also say that the potential amount of fandom-related interest in rule34 or general romantic guessing enrich itself with more than one potential scenario, while keeping all open and not strictly canon
