Wow... FA suspension

by
So I had heard/read some horror stories from artists suddenly getting their FA account suspended or worse. I've been on there for a good 15 years now and never had any troubles. Until a minute ago.

I just refreshed my page to see if there were any new messages/notices, and... boom. A week suspension. Apparently there still was a picture in my gallery of a younger character with her cooch exposed - it was a coloration of an artist's picture I colored... at least over a decade ago, if not more, and I had actually forgotten I even had that picture. But clearly the FA witch hunters stumbled across it, and I now know first-hand how true the horror stories were.

NO warning whatsoever, NO message sent to say "hey, such and such submission is in violation of so and so rule, you should delete it", no nothing. Just an immediate suspension of a week and this;

"You have done this by Uploading artwork the features a minor/cub with exposed genitalia.

This has resulted in an immediate escalation to a 1 week suspension, a FINAL WARNING NOTICE (4th Level Offense), and the removal of the listed submission."

Thanks for fucking LETTING ME KNOW so I could fix it, and thanks for the dumbass spelling error ("...artwork THE features...")

Well, wonder what the artists I currently have YCH commissions going with will think of me being unable to respond to notes or anything for the coming week. Guess I'll see next week. Sheesh.

Sheesh, a warning would be nice, wouldn't it? Especially if the submission is a pretty old one. I have stuff in my account I'd totally forgotten about, and it hasn't even been that long since I posted some of it! I'm really sorry they decided to do this to you, though at least it's just a suspension and not an outright ban. Time to go comb through my posts just to make sure there's nothing they can ding me on!

As for the YCHs you're waiting on, I'd be happy to contact the artist(s) in question and let them know you won't be able to respond for a week if you'd like.

Yeeeeeeeah, you would THINK they'd first send some kind of message to warn you that there is something violating the rules and it should be deleted... but then again, witch hunters are not very well-known for giving out warnings, and as it turns out, common courtesy and rational thought are apparently not requirements one must have to become an FA mod =P

Aw, and thank you, dear. That would be nice, the artists are both still pretty new and have been in regular contact with me, so it'll be great if they know I will be absent for a week due to this stupidity. I have two YCHs gong with Itarri and one with Kitkatmilk, so if you could drop them a message, I'd be much obliged >^_^<

Yeah, unfortunately that's the case. It's purely wishful thinking on my part to hope some folks would at least be decent and not abuse their power, but alas. It's not as if FA makes it that easy to delete old submissions, either.

And I'll be happy to drop them a note. It's the least I can to help a friend!

All too true - I have always done my very best to be polite and friendly and decent in the way I deal with other people, and really, if I would have gotten any kind of notice about that submission, I would have immediately replaced it with some kind of blank placeholder and edited the title to say 'deleted' or something. Buuuuuut I suppose doing it this way is easier for them because they can just hit a button and send a generic notice.

And thank you again - the YCHs have been claimed and paid for so technically I'm just waiting for my turn in the queue, it may even be that the week will be over before they get to them, but as they're new artists to FA and have been in regular contact with me, it'd be nice if they had a heads-up that any response from me will be delayed by a week.

Got a note in to Itarri, but it says KitKatMilk doesn't exist? Could you double check and confirm spelling on that?

Thanks, dear! Oops, and my bad, I found the commission receipt in my emails, and it's Kitcatmilk, with the cat having a C rather than a K. Forgive this old greymuzzle kitty a small memory lapse, hee!

Ah, thanks hon! And that's perfectly okay, I have to look up usernames all the time, even for artists I've commissioned multiple times, sometimes!

Got 'em both noted. And you're quite welcome. I know even a small bit of radio silence can be a problem sometimes, so I'm glad to help. It's also why I kind of wish more artists would use e-mail or some other sort of off-site way of staying in touch. FA notes are fine for asking about commissions and setting things going, but between twitchy mods and frequent outages, it's not the best place to stay in touch these days.

Hee! Yeah, that is why I always save all the notes since I can just click on their names and go directly to their front page if need be. And I learned to add their names to the file name of the picture when I save it so I know who to credit once I get to uploading it anywhere.

But yeah, it may have been fine fifteen years ago, but nowadays its getting to be more problematic when you have no other ways or means to get in touch with someone. So yay for helpful friends! >^_^< I really do hope it won't get you in trouble as well though, you never know if the witch hunters would stumble across notes and construe it as circumventing a ban or something dumb like that.

Heh, yeah, I almost never delete FA notes, either. Which means I have a ton of them now, but it can be helpful in finding people. And I keep a little list of who I've commissioned/got art coming from, too. A little trick I picked up from my girl.

I wouldn't think it'd be a problem, but who knows? I did just mention to the artists in questions you were suspended a week and didn't go into any of the whys or wherefores, so fingers crossed. Though I know people ask after banned/suspended artists all the time, without anyone saying a word.

*chuckles* Tell me about it, I have pages and pages of notes from commissions and YCHs and whatnot I have gotten over time. It is indeed handy sometimes, especially since I get so behind in making ref sheets out of adoption pictures and posting them, and sometimes it gets tricky to credit the original artist, especially if the signature is not clear or even missing sometimes. Though luckily I only ran across that issue once.

It shouldn't be a problem since you didn't make any public posts, and it was not me doing it either (it did say "NOTICE: Creating or accessing alternate accounts violates Fur Affinity’s TOS and may result in a PERMANENT BAN.") but I did not do that, and I'm not an artist either, I don't do commissions and I only post reference sheets made out of adoption pictures of characters I adopted from other artists, and my stories occasionally of course, so it should be alright. Guess we'll see.

There has to be someone going around just looking for any pre-cub ban cub art to report. Just an FYI, if someone reports anything that links to a submission that has cub stuff that can get you suspended as well.

It certainly looks like that. As I mentioned, I did that coloration at least a decade ago, if not longer, and it has been buried in my gallery for allllllllllll that time.
Thanks for the heads-up, too! I don't think I have any posts that directly link to anything containing cub stuff though, I've been very careful in not cross-linking my FA and IB submissions.

I can't think of anything I have on FA their mods would have issue with...Though FA being FA, you never know.

Yeah, can't be too careful, clearly. Admittedly, I remembered the picture from the title of the submission they deleted, and it was a kitten in sports clothes with her shorts pulled aside so her bits were showing, but any later cub characters I posted (same as the ones I have on here), I made sure to censor the images as well as edit the text I put on their ref sheets so there was nothing there to break any rules.

*Hugs* Late to the party here, but I'm so sorry they decided to suspend you for that. I suppose it's good that it's just a suspension this time, but really, considering that sort of content was once acceptable on the site, and considering it's not the easiest site to find art on if it's more than a few months old, you'd think they'd cut you a little slack. I did a bit of a gallery purge/cleanup there a little while ago, albeit for different reasons, and I'm still finding things I missed after going over it three times!

*floofy catloaf huggle* Yeah, it sucks. I honestly don't mind the penalization in itself; it is a quite clear rule and that picture clearly violated it. But I do resent that they zero-toleranced the fudge out of me over a picture that has been there for over a decade without even the slightest of prior notices or warnings or anything at all. Had they contacted me first, even if it would have been with a "take this submission down or else", I would have done it and there would have been no drama whatsoever.
I will definitely be going over my whole gallery with a fine-toothed flea comb once the coming week is over. I may even consider removing the censored pictures I have on there, too.
