Update on Printer Problems.

by
Decided to do a Printer Preview of my work and sure enough, for whatever reason the printer just doesn't 'see' the whole middle portion of my work.  Frustrating.

Sounds like a printer that would make good baseball batting practice.

I'd like to take a baseball bat to the Windows programming team.

Can't say I'd blame you there.

Hm... what program are you using to print? If the print preview inside the program is displaying it this way then it might be the program rather than the printer that's misbehaving.

I'm using Windows 10 and yeah, after the last update my entire computer is on the fritz.  I need to turn off updates to this computer.

If I can figure out how to turn my files into a pdf I could print it that way.

Yeah, the Print Preview should reflect what gets sent to the printer, so if the preview is ok it should ok.  There can be settings in the drivers or printer that can still muck stuff, up, but if it looks ok in the preview, that's a start.

Usually there's also a "use system printer dialog" option so it opens the system printer dialog instead of that specific programs' print preview.   That MIGHT print better?

If not, you said PDFs print ok?  Windows has a "print to pdf" option in the print dialog. Just select that instead of the printer.

the print preview is a mess.

I'd have to make the files into a pdf, which is not something I've ever tried before and wouldn't know where to start.

use system printer dialog is something I am not aware of.

Can you describe how the print preview is a mess?  Maybe a screenshot?    The preview is supposed to show exactly what's going to the printer so if the preview is a message, your printout is going to be a similar mess.

As for PDFs, like I said... you can "print to pdf".  It shows up as a fake printer in Windows:

Wow.. that's a new one.    Looks like people are having some similar issues with a recent windows update.  Here's some info on which update might be causing the issues so you might be able to uninstall or roll back to a previous store point:

What kind of file is it? How are you attempting to print it? Have you been able to print it this way before?

PNG files, and yes I've done this many times--I wouldn't be writing these comic strips if I could not print them out as a hard copy.

It's a Windows update problem.  I will have to remove update and turn off auto update.
