Angry Fox is Angry!

by
So, after getting a few hours of sleep this morning when I got home from work, I tried to start up my laptop and found that it would not respond.  Multiple attempts to restart the computer failed, so it would seem as if the laptop finally gave out on me.  Naturally, I was not very amused with this development...especially during the middle of the work week.  To make matters worse, I lost about a month's worth of story progress as a result, so some stories that have already been started will need to be rewritten (in part).

So, I had to spend some time today going out to get a new computer (spending about $400 that I didn't want to spend right now) and trying to recover as much stuff as I could.  Granted, I didn't lose a whole lot of story progress, since I haven't made a lot of progress since the last time I backed up my story stuff.  Still, this is going to slow production down, at least in the short-term.

UPDATE (2/19): After purchasing a precision screwdriver kit, I managed to extract my laptop's hard drive and I'm going to attempt to extract the files from it once I get a cable for it.  Additional updates will come as soon as I know more

Times like this are when I really recommend saving direct to cloud drive. Stuff I put on my google drive is immediately saved, and synced to my other pc's if need or just stored in the cloud if not.

you did remove the battery and leave it unpluged for a few minuts riiiight...

and check the power adapter with a multimeeter.

allso your data is far from gone it's still on the hard drive in that laptop i'd be glad to walk you through pulling the drive and conecting it to the new one. you can use a usb adapter to conect it externaly  most likely anyway if it's a m.2 theres adapters for those as well.

In order to remove the battery, I would have to take the computer apart first, and I currently don't have a screwdriver that is small enough to be able to get into the holes.  When I am able to get a small enough screwdriver, I could attempt to disconnect the battery and (if all else fails), extract the hard drive.  However, I'm not sure when that is going to be.

My laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad 110.  I bought it in late 2016.

Update: I purchased a precision screwdriver kit this afternoon and extracted the hard drive from the laptop.  All I need now is to find a way to recover my data from it.
