SF author Ray Bradbury passes away

Probably the last of the authors from science fiction's Golden Age has passed away at the age of 91 this morning.

RIP Ray Bradbury.

Well, damn. That's really sad. He's been one of my literary heroes for as long as I've been reading books.

I am ashamed for never hearing of him :(

What did he write?

Asimov, Bradbury and Clarke; the ABCs of SF, all gone now. Bradbury was a real writer's writer, he didn't just tell a story, he made it beautiful. He knew words; man, he knew them in the Biblical sense, they danced for him! If I could be half the writer Bradbury was, I'd be a grand master.

I think Something Wicked This Way Comes was the first book of his that I read. It's a page-turner of course, scary, but I loved the way it worked out. But it was the way he used English that made it feel like it was set in a Norman Rockwell painting. The Martian Chronicles felt like it was set everywhere, but it felt like Mars!

If there's anything after this life, may it be kind to Ray Bradbury. Fairwell you old ray gun, thanks for everything.

One of my favorite authors. He had a command of language that few (if any) writers possess today.  He will be missed.
