A LONG overdue update (A New house & Sick Dogs)

by
Hello all... Sorry I've been so quiet lately. Life's been busy - in both good and not so good kinds of ways...

First, let's start with the good! Back towards the end of December a couple of friends and I FINALLY settled on a house to buy. It's not perfect, but it gets us a lot closer to work and medical options. Technically, I am only going to be renting from my friends as I am not related to them and couldn't go on the loan right and proper, but I did help pick out the house and have been a part of the decision process the whole time. Mind you, these friends I am moving in with are brothers that I have known since my teenage years (about half of my life now if I am honest...) and I lived with both of them for 4 years or so solidly and a couple more off and on before that. For the last 2.5 years, we have been living with our parent's houses respectively (a block from one another) as a result of our previous landlord deciding to sell the property we had been staying at. That said, we have continued to carpool to and from work (almost 2 hours away from where we have been living) this whole time. Well, it's been a difficult journey trying to get into a new place and we have had to sacrifice some of what we were looking for, but ultimately we finally found something that will work for now (hopefully we can sell it down the road and upgrade to what we really wanted, but time will tell if that can happen or not...) Ironically the place is only about 2 blocks from where we lived before. It's been a slow process fixing up and moving into this new place, and we still aren't done, but at least it is progress towards something better! Anyhoo, that's the good news.

The bad news, unfortunately, is REALLY bad news... One of my roommate's dogs and my own oldest dog have both been diagnosed with cancer within a month or so of one another. The dogs are both about 10 years old give or take. Now, I say one is theirs and one is mine, but in truth, both dogs have spent about half of their lives living with both of us and we both care very much about one another's pets as well. So we are feeling a great deal of pain not only for the imminent loss of our own dear canine companion but also for the other's... As for my own dog, she is nearing 11 years old and has been with me for virtually all of my adult life. She was a gift from my parents for getting through college and means the world to me, her cancer seemingly came out of nowhere too so the shock has been hitting me pretty hard...

As for any potential artwork updates in the near future, well, it's not like I haven't been drawing when I get the chance, buit I haven't had the time or energy to really "finish" anything for a while now. I'll hopefully get back to posting stuff again when I am in a more stable situation, if and when that ever happens...

I am so very sorry... That's hard, really hard.

Actually, this same dog of mine who is sick was born with hip displaysia, the cold definitely does make a difference in her mobility. Honestly, at first I thought that was what was wrong with her. But unfortunately I was apparently wrong... I just hope the diagnosis from the vet is wrong too. I doubt that they were wrong, but they weren't absolutely certain either, so I really hope that she can recover... I'm so scared of losing her.

Mine is named Anya. She definitely isn't eating like she used to, but she still will eat, so long as it isn't dry kibble or too cold. She's been eating warmed pumpkin, yogurt, and peas all mashed together (with a few kibbles hidden inside) and seems to really enjoy it. At least for now.
