Faith in FPS genre lost

So I get my Renaissance Heroes beta key, get the installer and try to install the game and the game starts bitching that I don't have enough drive space. I free up 12 gb on my d drive and the game still bitches about it. I check the forums and find out that game needs 1.5 on drive c and 2.2 on drive d. Fuck you game makers, just fuck you...

Um, don't tell me your C:\ drive has below 1.5 GB of free space...

If that's the case, then please, format your PC. Your C:\ drive should always have sufficient space left.

That's no fault of the FPS-Genre. That's normal. To install an application you NEED free space on C:\ because of temporary install-files. If that space is not there, then the installation cannot continue. That is for the majority of applications on Windows.

It allso depends on what version of windows you are on. somehow my Windows folder takes up more than 55GB of space and grows about a gig every update.
but 1.5GB of data on C:\ is a little much

Nope. My temp folder is on the D drive. I put it there coz I wouldn't be able to install anything if it wasn't there.
This game REQUIRES 1.5 gb on C drive.

Sure. On a 20 to 30 gb drive that's easy to do.

Some games need redistributables for certain applications those games need. Such "redists" are usually installed in C:\Program Files.

This is the first one I ran into. And I customized my windows so it installs EVERYTHING in the drive D.
But nooooo this game INSISTS on drive C.

oh wow that is freaking retarded
i've ran into games that forced you to install to C:\ most of them were MMOs and the only "reason" was to prevent hacking.... seriously!?
well now I got a single TB hard drive, keeps me sane...

I'd never do that. If you win dies and you have to reinstall you'd have to lose all your data.

meh nothing "important", all my important stuff is backed up on my email, on my phone and on another computer.
