Looking Back, Looking Forward

What a year looking back, and what a year this is going to be. I mean, 6 days in and already an attempted insurrection on US soil. “May we live in interesting times indeed.”

But anyways I’m not here to talk about current events, I’m talking about everything. Last year was absolutely nuts. So much happened I actually can’t truly recall everything that went down. But hey, I lasted a whole year at this job, more than any others I’ve done in the past but one job that I hated. Granted the one I have now isn’t ideal, I managed to keep it through the Covid crisis, and moreover, I’ve been in public and working since like, June and still haven’t contracted it yet, so yeah that’s a thing. I’m pretty happy about it, especially with the success I’ve found at work.

But with that came immense challenge. School and work is hard. School is harder when work falls apart and you have to take over a second person’s job thanks to them having to leave. And I have effectively lost the ability to hire someone else because I’m literally too busy, as are us all. This is a lot of why I’ve been so scarce; I’ve been exhausted and broken. I won’t even promise things are gonna get better, because nothing is promised. Nothing is guaranteed.

Creatively, though, is where I am starting to come closer into my own. Over the course of the year I’ve been, as you’ve all seen, been designing a litany of characters whom I’m working on giving lives of their own. I’ve been doing this because I’ve been feeling ambitious, passionate about starting up a multiple-story series based on the world of my characters. I’ve begun with the first chapter “Cubs of Wildstar Elementary” which stars Maverick and his close friends from school and the wild adventures they’ll be going on. There are others planned and in the pipeline, with more designs and characters coming in over time. I have a lot I want to do with them, beyond art and writing. I’m praying that this will become a project that’ll last for a long time.

My coloring has slowed down, but I’m still going. I still want to grow and gain skills. This year I’m intending on taking lessons and learning to expand upon my skills. So that’ll be a thing.

I also just, with the help of
Khaimera

, got a 3D printer as well - which means an even further expansion of artistic skills, as both he and I are going into learning 3D sculpting, and hopefully get into creating models and minis.

This year, no matter what, I’m making sure it is going to be a good year. I’m going to put in the work and put in the effort to make sure that I finally let the creativity that I’ve let lie dormant for so many years. I’m excited!
