2020: A House, Hollywood, Engagement... The Usual!

by
**Long journal! TLDR at the bottom!**

Hello all! It's been a year... and what a year it has been, almost like a completely different world! So many things good and bad have happened to me this year including a wedding proposal! I guess I will go ahead and start from where the last journal left off:
"Curious to see what 2020 will bring to all! Plans so far is to survive restructuring at work, look to move in with Veltrix and scout Burbank and LA for a place to live in the near future! Oh, and maybe have a full suit before the summer. I wanna keep staying fuzzy!"

Well I gotta say, I've hit nearly all those goals for this year despite the mass virus that has shifted all our paths in life. Hard to believe Valentine's Day was the last bit of togetherness we all seemed to had and who better to spend it with than Veltrix, but more on that later! Let's tackle the events!

1) Christmas in Germany - One of the highlights of 2019 and my adult life was spending my 30th birthday and Christmas with my family over in Germany! I hadn't seen them in some 18 years and that alone was awesome enough but the experience of flying, drinking and just going out to walk get lost in the splendor of festive celebration in Ansbach was something I'm not about to forget anytime soon. Christmas was simply put "Magical" and my 30th birthday I was like a king with the food and atmosphere of the 600 year old restaurant. Made it back home after 2 weeks in time for New Years, happy that 2019 was the best year I've had that decade, unaware of anything major on the horizon...

2) Covid - Finally hit close to home in March and affected me as it did everyone else. Cons, celebrations, vacations and even diet was affected. Goes without saying that my story would basically reflect most other people. Stayed inside and adjusted as we all are able to do! And it took a pandemic for me to realize that I was dumb and should have been working from home many years ago! Saves me about 3 hours of total travel time a day, wear and tear on the car and money! Speaking of work

3) Work Restructure - Now comes the bad! Before the pandemic, my work had planned to restructure completely how things are done! Instead of problems coming in and one person seeing through to conclusion, now they are split into three tiers, passed on when one experience level cannot troubleshoot further. I am on tier 2. Now, everyone is working from home, adjusting to a radically different world and work still decides to go through with this and changed everyone's schedules without say, threw people into new areas without any proper training (learn by yourself as you go I was basically told). Work is completely metric based now, the sense of family and caring about associates is gone and our numbers are abysmal, something this new way was supposed to fix. Worse yet, our schedules are shifting twice a year now based on their BS metrics. I can't see myself lasting much longer if they keep this up. But there has been one person that kept me going.

4) Getting Married - That's right! Veltrix and I are tying the knot! I proposed on Friday 13th in October at the top floor of a rotating restaurant and it was an obvious yes! We moved in with each other in August and gave life some normalcy and meaning in this crazy world. I am now a resident of Ohio and living in a nice 3 bedroom townhouse until things clear up and we can properly house hunt! The wedding is being planned before Halloween... and we are hoping things are going to be clear by then.

5) Hollywood LA - Last big thing on the 2020 list is my visit to LA. I had put in for a flight in March right before things got serious and my stubborn self though "I am going! Nothing is going to stop me!" Well, I didn't get flight insurance in case anything happened.... oops! Well, I could either not go and waste the money or just take the flight and bunker down with my friend in Burbank. I did the latter! Airports were extremely empty and so were the flights. I never sat next to anyone! When I got there, my friend and I basically watched movies and ate most of the time! Original plan was to scout for places to live out there and visit studios but the only sight seeing we did was in the safety of the car. I saw the Hollywood sign, got to see WB studio lot where he once worked and visit Cartoon Network headquarters (by his house). Also got to see The Beach Boys monument in Hawthorne... about 2 blocks from Space X. It was a nice break from the monotony of work and isolation, but was nice to be back home and safe.

So TLDR: I am getting married, moved in with fiance, went to Hollywood and am staying optimistic for the future, for the sake of everyone!
