The New Animaniacs

Just got done watching the first six episodes of Animaniacs. One thing I found different is the humor in the new 2020 series was ratcheted up from how it was in the 90's and allot more political. It pulls no punches. In fact, some of that humor is downright scathing especially on social political matters. I attribute that to the writers which, if I remember correctly, a few are veterans from adult humor cartoons like Family Guy. One thing I do like, the show is not afraid to pick in itself. That tells me that the producers and writers are not too full of themselves, unlike Frankenstein McMan-Bun who was behind Thundercats Roar. (Thank God that botched hestorectemy was cancelled)

I see only 2 real drawbacks in the  new Animaniacs. First, the side characters from the original, such as Slappy Squirrel, the Good Feathers, Buttons and Mindy, etc. being MIA. Though one of the episodes gave an explanation in the plot. No spoilers though. The second drawback is even though  The Brain is voiced by the original voice actor of that character, he sounds ever so slightly different. Perhaps its because of age and/or differing audio engineering from the nineties show. But either way he's clearly still The Brain, but the tones and inflections are ever so slightly different. Its a minor nit pick though.

Overall I am duely impressed with the show. As far as I'm concerned it definitely does what it promises. So it gets the Chipmunk Seal of Approval. If you got Hulu, give Animaniacs a watch.
