Two anime i finished (Tokyo Ghoul and Code Geass)

Two relatively famous anime i would suggest in one case, while the other i got a bit a mild opinion.
Sadly neither of them it's really anthro/furry connected, but they've some intriguing points.

1) Tokyo Ghoul has a strong "Meet the different one" vibe that i appreciate, at least at the first part of story. Settled into our modern world but with a key difference: the existence of "Ghouls", that despite the name are NOT undead being, but basically an underground/hidden population of forced cannibals with strong hints to urban-fantasy vampires. They have families on their own and feed upon humans, killing them with special appendices/tentacles sprouting usually from the back.
The first section of the story is quite interesting: the protagonist Ken Kaneki is mysteriously turned into an half-human half-ghoul and forced to accept its nature. Interestingly the story try work attempts to reconciliate what appears to be a terrible fate with some logical solutions ("Ghouls" need to eat human flesh, but there are ways to procure it even without directly killing people!)
SADLY the anime fell rather quickly into a classic shonen-type of story: these kind of debate are dropped off and the plot focus in a massive series of clashes, fightings and battles between Ghouls of different factions and a powerful agency employing agents fighting Ghouls with weapons of similar quality and power. Adding confusion to this turn, the story adds an incredibly HUGE amount of characters who are little explored, sometimes disposed-off after a while and keep the watcher a bit lost into a huge crowd of Ghouls and their nemesis.
I read part of the manga, with some attempts to give more background to some characters and i hope that eventually the story will hint at one of the several possible political/social solutions that seems to be completely LACKING in the Anime.
Little Adult hint/note:  the anime include a quite charming and well-done rare sex scene between the main protagonist and a significant love-interest. I was honestly surprised also because the scene itself seems an honest tribute to the couple.

2) Of different nature, i watched also Code Geass: Lelouch of Rebellion.
An anime that was suggested by many, it merge elements of "Death Note" (super-intelligent but dark protagonist with a dangerous power) with classic mecha anime (giant robot battles).
Set in a similar- but-different world where a good chunk of the world is under the world domination of "Britannia" that despite its name is a british-like empire that seems originated from the American continent. Britannia is a racist militarist aristocratic regime ruled by a powerful Emperor and its royal family that invade and occupy Japan. The occupation is quite brutal at the point the subjected people are simply assigned a number rather than a nationality name ("Japanese" for example are forced to be called "Eleven" as name, after Japan was renamed "Area-11").
Amid this situation, we have a young boy named Lelouch who is a Britannian himself studying into a school into the "Area-11" and suddenly witness the brutal repression of an entire ghetto.
Lelouch acquire after a mysterious meeting the "Geass": a power that allow him to bend people to his will. This apparently semi-divine power has however few significant (and spoiler) limits, moreover Lelouch find himself in a position to attempt to change his world, while keeping all the people close to him safe from danger.
Differently from Death Note, Code Geass aim to some higher target: Lelouch it's an incredibly brilliant character who assume sometimes the traits of a Machiavellian dark figure and sometimes the traits of the faceless hero. The plot include lots of mech battles, but while the fighting machines often reach levels of extreme power, you never get the feeling that mecha battles are sometimes more important than tactics and strategy.
The story include an high amount of surprises, twists and spoilers, interestingly some episodes begins with a brief (or not so brief) time leap and a couple of times i worried to have missed an episode by accident, but everything it's explained and revealed during the very same episodes.
The anime remain brilliant for most of the two seasons, even if at some points (after the "Chinese-arch" of episodes of season 2) it seems that characters and antagonists talk a bit too much over the "destiny of mankind" and kinda forgot we're also fighting for or against a brutal racist dictatorship.
The ending of the anime however is extremely surprising for it's quality, it's power emotions and plot twists and subverting expectations of the watchers. It's rare to change opinion on an anime character, sometimes it happens with the growth (or downfall), but it's VERY rare that said character is capable to FOOL the human watchers, and that's exactly what Lelouch is capable to do.

I know there is also a sequel-movie, based upon a recap movie that actually change the fate of one character (i wonder why?! Basically this would make the story a spinoff?). And i will watch it even if honestly Code Geass should be considered OVER with the very ending of the second season (a perfect ending on many points, even if left some mysteries unexplained).

Hehe thanks! and what you ean for "both" Tokyo Ghoul? You mean Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo Ghoul √A and Tokyo Ghoul :re  ?
Watched all of them, even if it's the last season that i finished watching very recently. I am going to eventually finish reading also the manga because i am curious/hope to see some of the elements i felt missing (essentially some moment of final confrontation humans/ghoul to attempt find a solution as the Anteiku attempted to do at the beginning).

I've seen the cover of the first anime you mentioned, but didn't know at all the second one.

Yeah it is what i meant XD

About mushi shi, it's some kind of detective traveling in an old japan to solve problems with some entities called "mushi".
Always useful if you need something a little calm ^^
