Did you try Windows 10's optional updates?

Because I did that no more than two days ago, and I broke my drivers to the point of suffering with constant BSODs (Blue Screen of Deaths). I remedied the issue with a radical solution: restarted in Safe Mode, backed up all files, and reinstalled Windows.

It's too late, I've lost everything I've done since May. And I've tried to recover the files; no luck.

I take it that it was the optional updates. Well, I'm never going to deal with optional updates ever again. *shrugs*

Alright. If your computer blue-screens, simply let it BSOD a couple of times. It will attempt to do a System Restore and revert the updates. However, after this is done, it will likely allow Windows to start to the log-in screen.

At this point, you would have to hold shift and click restart, and select the option to restart in safe mode. From there, you could revert updates one by one, or go my route: retrieve your files and prepare to reset Windows.

I actually don't know what caused it. Microsoft Edge had somehow put itself onto my computer and I was trying to get rid of it with a system restore. I let it run and checked back after an hour and my computer monitor was off, but the lights on my keyboard/mouse/speakers were on and the computer was still running. So I hit the power button to restart and I kept getting BSODs. I tried restarting a bunch of times, same thing. Autorepair wouldn't work and my computer seemed to be bricked.

So with the help of a friend I formatted and deleted my HDs and reinstalled Win10. And even doing that was a pain in the ass. Trying to install graphics drivers kept crashing the computer until one time it was just magically installed after restarting one time.

Yeah, my card is an older NVIDIA card. GeForce Experience helped me out by giving the option for a "clean install" to wipe all of the old settings. It can help to reinstall the graphics driver, cleanly.

Computers can be very complicated things. I'm so sorry that you had to deal with a BSOD situation like this. If there is anything I can do to help? Anything at all?

No, no thanks. I'm good. It's just a matter of transferring everything over again from my old HD backup now.

I suppose there is one last piece of advice I can offer: LOCKSSS (Lots Of Copies Keeps Stuff Safe and Secure). Frequently back up your data to multiple drives, and keep a copy that is outside of the system (external drive).

If you need help with anything, you can contact me via private messages. Good luck to you, Emenius.

Lol, yeah, you can't install the newest MacOS on any computer more than 2 years old. Good luck buying a new $1000+ laptop in 18 months when Apple switches over to new silicon.

Meanwhile, my 2011 Dell and 2012 Asus are still fully supported by Windows for the forseeable future xD

Heh why would you bother with buying a mac when you can just install OSX onto a pc? :) As for it running on intel cpu's when they come out with the new chip it don't matter. Anything from mojave up stinks anyway not having good support for nvidia (for those in the professional area that still need cuda). I still run high sierra on my 2012 mac pro and my pc hackintosh.

I sold all my Macs. They were great, but were all old - 2000 iBook G3 Clamshell, 2006 Pro 1.1, 2008 Pro 3.1, 2011 Mini. Two got me through college and the others I bought just for giggles. Never went past Mavericks.

The older Macs are great computers, very servicable and upgradable. The new shit is all SoC and nothing can be swapped out >:(

A Mac from 2012 is still getting every Catalina update, and every Mac from 2013 is getting Big Sur :')

Another reason I prefer chrome os. Most everything I have to work on is backed up to both the cloud, and an external hard drive (google drive is pointed to that external drive). With its increasing ability to run apps now its getting a lot more useable too. Currently has built in support for android apps, linux apps, and soon windows apps with the partnership with parallels in the works.

Hindsight, etc, but I too have been stung by windows 10 updates messing with my computer and I use https://greatis.com/stopupdates10/, which is not the best situation (the better situation would be a team as good as those working on windows XP, who actually could do QC) but it's an acceptable compromise. My important stuff is on a linux computer as I'm a poorfag who's not gonna splurge on a mac.

After the May update on windows 10, it seems both my pc and laptop, none of them will internal system restore, breaks halfway, I do a clean install of windows to recover them.

If you would like to talk about making Windows 10 work without the bullshit, please let me know. I can help you without a doubt. ^_^ I have been using it for almost a year now and due to the ways I've decided to make it work, I've never had an issue (including no forced updates, reverting settings etc) This goes for anyone else reading this, feel free to PM me.

Did you try using a software to restore point? Also really should put stuff on an external HD  to back up.

I will never "buy" win 10 until they return to "user friendly" design where I can TURN OFF automatic updates and SPYING, and only choose to update what I want, when I want.

On a side note, win 10 "unactivated" is still "free" as long as you are okay with not being able to change background colors. Dual boot is awesome. Even if win 10 bricks itself, which it has multiple times in the past, as long as you got a backup drive win 7 or linux or such on it things can usually be fixed without data loss.
