So, Discord has closed my account for violating their ToS. They refuse to tell me what part of the ToS I broke, but I'm not going to argue, odds are, I did. I'm not going to try to fight it, as honestly there is no way to do so, even my requests to find out what I did wrong or to cancel my subscription to Nitro are just met with a boilerplate 'you broke the ToS, we aren't reinstating your account, go away' message. Anywhere from today to several months from now their automated systems will delete my account, at which point all the servers I made should go poof.
It's been a lot of fun, it was a great service, but it's gone to me now.
I don't know if I will ever rebuild Dana's Lab anywhere. I don't know where I could even do it. If you have options, I'm open to hearing them, but Discord is kind of the new global Facebook for communities like that, so no matter where I end up, it would be marginalized. Ah well.
I want you all to know, I don't hold this against Discord, I'm not looking to call any boycotts or anything here. They have to defend themselves as a company, and comply as best they feel they can to laws in countries around the world, some of which are draconian.
