Computer and Health Update

The computer has been stabilized and we have identified that it is indeed the power supply that is acting up. I've been waiting to hear back from the manufacturer of the power supply (Corsair) for quite awhile now as it's still under warranty, but at this point I'm starting to lose hope. My system right now has the original power supply that came with the machine... and with it, the video card, too, because the older PSU doesn't have the right plugs or power output to handle the big badass new card anyway. But no surprise, the system has been stable ever since I downgraded.

Now theoretically, this means I can get back to work again: SAI and CSP doesn't need a great video card to run, just plenty of RAM.

Which leads me to the migraines issue I touched on last journal. They got so bad last week that I actually had to go to the emergency room to seek immediate relief. I'm not at all happy with the fact I had to do that, what with how American health care is, but it was absolutely necessary. I have another appointment to follow this up in a few days, and I've been nursing it ever since. It's never truly fully gone away, no matter what I do.
What is going to happen is if things don't improve for me soon, there could be refunds for those who paid, and a complete cancellation of the queue, and I may never open for commissions again in the foreseeable future.

I got it as part of a Cyber Monday promotion and received it in December 2014. Dell XPS 8700.
Normal specs: Intel i7-4790, 16 GB DDR3 RAM, Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD, NVidia GeForce 745 GTX, 450W power supply (manufacturer unknown)

That sounds like a pretty decent system, however six years is a bit on the old side for a computer. Especially if you use it intensively. Do you let it run software it can just barely manage a lot? I did that and probably didn't improve my pc's lifespan.

No. I never overclock hardware, and I tend to play a lot of stuff that doesn't usually tax the system, even if I am on it a lot.
It's always been a vicious cycle of being just barely on the top of the game for as long as I've had a computer, or somewhere behind, because I've never had a lot of money. And with my credit in the crapper, I can't exactly get a good replacement on the cheap anyway. That's why I had been trying to do so with component upgrades, such as a GeForce 1660 GTX Super earlier (brand new!), and the 750W power supply earlier, which began to fail (this part was only 2.5 years old).

That sounds good. Keep it up. ;-)

To add, I tend to run things in such a way as to preserve the hardware for as long as I can. It is a big reason why the OEM hardware is still functional, after all, as aside for the hard drive that did get replaced in the last update (hard drives are ALWAYS going to fail), I'm back to stock, and it's running fine.

I disagree, ANY part that can fail will fail if it gets used a lot or neglected. Not just harddisks, PSU's as well. Do you keep your pc safe from dust and smoke? Is the room well ventilated? Has any part been subjected to a physical shock? Optical drives and harddisk especially don't like that. Trust me, I know.

I think you misread what I said. I never said stuff just does or doesn't fail, just that I am good at making sure that I'm not the cause of part failure.* Please note and remember: the system is running fine again after parts changes.

Yes, the machine is well-ventilated.
Yes, the machine gets dusted about once a month*, and no one smokes in the house.
Yes, I am aware that other parts can and will fail due to neglect. * = See my GeForce 780 from the prior update. (Was missing this part from the regular dusting because it is fixed at an awkward angle)
