Lol even the IB staff are clowning on people who hid all their submissions.

As you can see on the top of the page now:
"Recent spam should be dealt with. 😼 If you hid all your submissions (not a good idea) and are finding you can't un-hide them all, please file a ticket to have that option enabled for you."

I just want to know what the logic behind hiding all submissions was. Idk how that is supposed to stop spam bots, if anything it probably helps them if their goal was to mess with people on Inkbunny since mass hiding has caused more issues.

Though I wasn't online during the spam attack so I could be missing some information here. Is there a particular reason that hiding all submissions became a trend?

Also also, a similar spam attack happened to FA a few days before the IB one, and a spam bot attack happened to a Discord server I mod for around the same time as the IB attack. Seems kinda strange, but I'm not sure if or how they're connected at all.

the spam bots were commenting on submissions so people tired of getting a new spam comment every few minutes hid their submissions

I guess that sounds annoying but hiding all submissions seems like overkill.

the second I hid my gallery, the bot couldn't add any more spam to my submissions and stuff. thanks to catching it early i had my whole gallery cleaned up in about 10 minutes. Now I get to sort out and update everything as I un-hide each submission. which was some house cleaning that was in need of doing anyway. I have no complaints about it.

I guess it seems like less of an issue if you only have a small number of submissions to un-hide, but I've seen people with like 300+ submissions and have to manually un-hide all of them.

I just hide my profile from the search. It seems to have worked as well rather than going through and hiding everything in my gallery.

In account options. It will set appropriate headers indicating that they shouldn't index it and not include you in our dumps to search engines, as well as making it (but not your actual content) inaccessible without an account.

It might work if they were using those indexes or user profile pages to pick pages to attack, however there is no guarantee of this.

Huh, that's interesting. I don't have a use for that feature personally but it could be useful if they were using index searching as you said.
