Hey, all. Yes, this is a repost. I know I said the same thing a few days ago, but I really could use some advice about opening comm slots for stories. Please none of that "it's up to you, that's really personal" type of advice; that's what led me to this in the first place. I have no idea what I'm doing.
I know things are a little crazy all over the world, but I'd like the genuine opinion of you all if you have the time. So the job market in my country is projected to be terrible for the next year or so, and I'm graduating university right into that void of extra uncertainty. I know I'd be asking a lot of people who are worried about the same struggles I am, but I've been going back and forth on opening up story commissions. I'm expecting some refund money from university anytime now, but I know it's not something I can wholeheartedly and completely rely on.
Honestly, though, I have more experience as a commissioner rather than the one opening commissions and I haven't reached out much in the community until recently, but I want to know what you guys think is fair. I'm talking rates and prices, number of commission slots, kinks and restrictions, etc.
Should I charge by every hundred words, 500 words, 1000 words? Should I just use a flat fee? How many slots are good to have open at a for stories? I wanna hear your opinions, both as an audience and as fellow creators.
Please note that this is not me formally opening commissions. I'll probably do that sometime after the semester ends if I decide to go through with this at all.
