DA - ECLIPSE

I'm going to be blunt here. While parts of the new ECLIPSE format on DA seem ok, I still think this a BIG mistake.

First off, the Journals - while they do seem to still enable CSS coding, the journals now have the titles separated from the skins, and the footers have been removed completely. Even my commission progress bars don't show up anymore, which sucks. Also, the journals are no longer on the main user homepage, but are in their own page under "Posts." Why would they do that?!

Second, the home page itself - while I do love that they enable a 1600x800 header banner for your page, what about the widgets? No CSS coding for them it seems.
One of the only reasons I pay for a yearly Core membership is to use CSS coding in both my journals and widgets! If Eclipse is going to remove those from the user's main homepage, then what's the point of Core memberships outside of removing commercial banners?

Like many, I don't like what DA staff is doing with this format, and even though there's nothing we can do about it outside of leaving DA, I still think they need to go back to the drawing board and at least find a way to let us keep the CSS customization intact. Unlike most, I would love to use Eclipse Dark Mode if and only IF they still keep full CSS coding on both widgets and Journals. Now it looks like they're not going to, at least not 100% - just on certain parts of the journals for the time being.

I really hope that one day after Eclipse goes live that they allow us full CSS coding enable again. It really helped with the layout of my front page. I really, REALLY wish they would not retire the old version of DA, and at least let us keep the "switch" button on to switch back to the old format, like FurAffinity does.

While I might among the few willing to stay on DA after the format switch, it's going to take me time to reformat my Journal's skin to match Eclipse's format and somehow still keep the Sci-Fi look that I like.

So for now, we'll just have to wait and see what happens, and maybe someday, they'll allows us full use of CSS coding again...

...I hope.

I think it's ass too. But just like YouTube, the change will be forced upon users.

Worst, group's admins have troubles seeing submitted works in their group, meaning that a lot get expired...
The only good thing about Eclipse is that you can make polls freely.

By the way, they'll retire the old version in May 20th.

This is the worst.  Nothing pisses me off than a web design that tries to waste as much space as possible (even if an artist doesn't actually put any art in the banner).  When I first tried Eclipse, I had to scroll down and entire screen to access the navigation menu because the banner took up the WHOLE screen.  Since then, they've changed it so the page "autoscrolls" beyond the banner, but that just defeats the purpose of putting the banner there in the first place, right?

Remember when every web site had a "splash page?"  Yeah, that died out for a reason.

The last time I tried Eclipse was a couple months ago, and back then they were using a confirmation for EACH submission when clearing out your message center, and forced a dynamic reload after each deletion.  That's ridiculous.  It took a half hour for me to sort through submissions while the old interface lets me do it in less than a minute.  I don't care if they've "improved" it since the last time I tried it.  Eclipse is a total train wreck.  Not only is it ugly, but it's totally unusable.

Try making your browser window smaller, and watch how the site hides the second scroll bar, making it difficult (or impossible) to scroll the page.  WTF?  Did they even test this crap?

But, hey... what did anyone expect after they got bought out by WIX, the kings of horrible web design?

Also keep in mind that when this rolls out, expect a possible silent purge of NSFW/Mature content from rumors going about.
