Babysitting Cream FAQ and Q&A

Not really sure how to begin this FAQ. I've considered writing such a thing for a while now but never really got around to doing it because I saw little point. Why waste time writing this when I could be working on the game? I decided to finally just nut up and fucking do it after lurking around and seeing so much misinformation and outdated information floating around the internet.

So here goes.

Q: Who are you?

I am Lost, and I am THE official writer for Babysitting Cream. It hasn't really been a secret for the past three years, but people have a terrible habit of learning new information when it comes to this game, for some god-forsaken reason. Yes, Aval0n is still the creator and general director, yes he is still part of the project, yes Avian/Feathered Adventures is still the programmer, and no, I am not Avian.

Q: How did you become part of the BSC team?

This is something I wrote about during our initial announcement of the project's revival three years ago. Back in 2010, when I was still in college, I was browsing a porn game site and sifting through the various flash games one day (which is coincidentally how I stumbled upon Hentaikey/Zone as well) when I discovered an earlier build of Babysitting Cream, a version that came out just after Aval0n stopped using the Bucktooth Cream model. As a Sonic the Hedgehog and loli fan, it interested me, and it was marginally better written than most other porn games I found, even through the janky writing. I checked the credits and then tracked down Aval0n on FurAffinity (back before they enacted the no cub rule), then proceeded to sit down in his streams while I waited for my evening classes to begin. At first, Aval0n found me a little grating, and to be honest I was a little bit up myself in those days, but we shared a lot of common interests, and we became good friends from there.

Aval0n started to read some of my writings and liked them, and liked them even more as I wrote him a few stories here and there, beginning with his Inner Sanctum series. Eventually he started asking me to look over and edit his script for BSC, and around 2016 he just asked me straight up if I wanted to be the writer. It would become official during the April Fools' announcement in 2017, but by then I had been privy to behind the scenes development of the game for years and ghostwriting for it for roughly one or one and a half.

Q: Why has it taken so long to make?

A: That is a very long story. The reasons stacked up over the years. The first reason was because of a real life incident with Aval0n. I won't go too far into the details, but in short, some vigilantes angry about a fictional game about a fictional character porking a fictional bunny put Aval0n in danger when some white knights actually tracked him down in his original home in Bermuda. He went dark for a while before resurfacing here in America as a naturalized citizen.

The second reason and third reason go hand in hand. The original platform BSC ran on, Flash, is an inherently janky piece of shit that the world was forced to work with for almost two decades. It's barely suitable for animation (and I had to make animations in it in college!), much less gaming, and the fact that good games were made in it doesn't take away the fact that making them are developmental nightmares. There's a reason why Binding of Isaac got a rerelease in its own engine.

Add to it that Aval0n and Avian are both not writers. Avian's a progammer, and Aval0n's an artist. I have the most experience with writing, and on top of that I have the most experience between all of us in writing and game design. Aval0n told me a few weeks ago that if I didn't come on the team, the script for this game would have been extremely repetitive and far shorter.

On top of that are real life issues, a long hiatus from the project as Aval0n worked on smaller projects and Avian focusing on college. But now we're determined as all hell to see this project finished, and a demo will be out once Part 1 is finished.

Q: What is Part 1?

A: The house. Aval0n told me that he wants the script for the house finished for an official release. Things that happen outside of the house will come later, even though I've already started writing, drafting and conceptualizing more than some of it.

Q: How much is done?

A: It's not easy to quantify how much is done, but a good majority of it is indeed finished. I changed up my method of managing the script to keep track of what is finished and what is a work in progress, and all things considered, the house is more than 50% done. I won't instill a false sense of hope and anticipation by giving you a higher number than that, but the greater half of it is assuredly complete. Of what remains is mostly just me going back and editing and better organizing the parts of the script I worked on earliest as the ghost-editor, making it fit in with my new structure and style of writing.

Q: When do you plan to release it?

Ah, the age-old question. Shut the hell up. We don't have a set release schedule because this is a passion project (AKA none of us are getting paid for this) and even we don't know. I want to get it out Soon™, and I put aside my other projects to focus entirely on it until it is done.

Q: Could I help? I have all these great ideas and-

Long story short, no. No development team, anywhere, is in need of an "ideas person". Those people don't exist because everyone has an idea for something. It's people who can execute those ideas into a tangible product that are actually worth something, and those people are very few and far between.

As for the few people out there who can actually see a project to its fruition, well, they have their own projects to worry about, and everyone had a long-ass time to make their own BSC or BSC-like, but didn't. The most I've seen from anyone over the years are shitty, half-completed fanfics and some super amateur-grade slide shows using art assets someone else made. My document for BSC stands at roughly 52,000 words as of right now. I don't see many people going about writing even a fifth that much.

Aval0n brought me on because I have an actual portfolio of completed projects, he felt that I had the ability to go the distance, and god dammit, I want to go the distance and see this game finished once and for all.

Q: Do you know about that Renpy conversion that one guy's doing?

A: Yes. I lurk and keep tabs on these sorts of things. I won't expect anything to come of it; I even confronted him straight up on whether or not he actually had the ability to see a project through (any, much less one to this scale), and he deflated like a balloon.

Q: Who is in the game besides Sonic, Vanilla and Cream?

A: That would be telling. The roster is much, MUCH larger than it was way back in the day; we are all Sonic fans and want to add in as many characters as we can, but we obviously can't add them all because there are too many. It would also ruin the surprise of seeing X or Y, so you'll just have to play the game yourself and see who you can find.

Q: Any extreme fetishes?

A: No, no scat, watersports, snuff, guro, podophilia, futanari, sounding, or nacho cheese. It's mostly loli and relatively vanilla fetishes from there.

Q: Do we still get to rape Tails?

A: Shooshy shooshy SHOOSHY!

Q: Will there be options to babysit other girls?

A: No! This is Babysitting Cream, not Babysitting Sonic Characters.

Q: Who do you get to fuck besides Cream?

A: Shooshy shooshy SHOOSHY!

Q: What was with that one image I saw?

A: Shooshy shooshy SHOOSHY!

Q: What about modding and DLC? (No, seriously, someone asked me about this)

A: Are you fucking insane? No! We're just trying to get the normal game done! And modding would require people make their own art assets and writings which people won't do! Might as well just go and make your own damn thing!

Q: What about VR? (Again...)

A: Don't make me report you to the DHS. They're already investigating people who click that "View in VR" option on Facebook.

Q: Where should we check for updates?

A: Our respective pages on Inkbunny. Once we have an official release, we'll spread the word as much we can.

I think the guy who did the RenPy version might have an idea, given that Flash is no longer being supported soon

the DHS? What?

Department of Homeland Security. VR fanatics may or may not be a serious threat to national security.

Okay, I would actually like to question what the story with that is.

It's semi-serious. There are some serious VR fanatics out there who want everything to be in VR now, even webpages, and they should be investigated and thrown into a padded cell, because they are fucking nuts.

Meh, just Techies jumping the bandwagon. Happens with every tech innovation.

"people have a terrible habit of learning new information when it comes to this game, for some god-forsaken reason"

Probably because Aval0n is the face of the project and is terrible at relaying information (or links; I'm only here because I looked for you) with most journals largely composed of rants against PMs that... were private, the project has been in general outwardly dormant for seven years, and most people looking for information don't generally know where to find it (see point 1, and the proliferation of the game across the web, usually without links to any of your artist pages or info about where things stand). So there's three god-forsaken reasons!

Let me specify. People apparently had discovered the recent journals that Aval0n posted, but seemed to only selectively read them because they were relaying information explicitly laid out in those journals while asking questions that were also answered in said journals, or just getting information straight up wrong despite it being clearly laid out.
