I hate to be morbid, but I will feel much better saying this.
If you are an artist and like my work, should the worst happen, please feel free to use my characters in your artwork, your stories, your comics.
Don't worry about whether I would approve of the treatment. That's what happened to Gene Catlow. Everyone was so concerned about being true to his vision that nobody has drawn any of them since.
If you love something, set it free.
I love my characters. I don't want them to die, ever.
Keep them alive. Please.
